An Understated Dominance - Chapter 489
Three loud bells rang through the Hill family home, causing many family members to hurry to the meeting hall. The Hill family had a strict rule: when the warning bells sounded, it meant something serious had happened.
No matter what they were doing, everyone was expected to go straight to the meeting hall.
“Autumn, what are you doing? Who told you to ring the bell?” Spring entered the meeting hall with a few aides and saw that most important family members were already there.
The family members had come running to the hall, confused about what was going on. The Hill family home was huge, stretching around an entire mountain, and those living behind it hadn’t heard the bells.
Autumn looked worried. “Spring! Someone went on a rampage at our home. If I hadn’t rung the bell, our family’s legacy would be in ruins!”

“Really? Who would dare to attack our family?” Spring asked, clearly upset.
“It’s that kid, Dustin!” Autumn clenched his fists. “He’s bold and disrespectful. He thinks he’s tough and has injured two to three hundred of our best members. He even crippled my son!”
“Dustin? How could it be him?” Spring raised an eyebrow, surprised. “Are you sure it wasn’t someone else?”
“How could I be mistaken? Even if that kid turned to ashes, I would still recognize him!” Autumn’s face was filled with anger.
“There must be a reason for his actions. Why would he do something like this?” Spring asked.
“There’s no reason that could ever justify what he did!” Autumn replied firmly.
“Spring, just look at my son! Look at how badly he was beaten!” Spring waved his hand, and soon, Torben was carefully brought in on a stretcher. He was covered in blood, had severed limbs, and his face twisted in pain, crying out endlessly.
The shocking sight stirred up a commotion among the family members. Torben was a direct descendant of the family and someone they had cared for deeply. Seeing him in such a terrible state sparked outrage.
“Dustin has gone too far! We must make him pay for this!” one family member shouted.
“Absolutely! We need to catch him to set an example for others!” another agreed.
Everyone spoke passionately, filled with righteous anger.
“Everyone, please calm down. I need to say something,” Patrick said as he stepped forward, trying to restore order. “Uncle Spring, after looking into this, I found out that Torben was the one who started all of this.”
Spring raised an eyebrow in surprise. “Oh? How so?”
“Dustin had sent someone to deliver a bottle of medicinal wine for Grandpa’s illness today. But Torben made things difficult for him at the gate. He not only smashed the bottle but nearly killed the delivery person. That’s why Dustin came to take revenge,” Patrick explained.
“What?! Is that true, Autumn?” Spring asked, turning to her.
“So what if it is? He’s just a servant. What’s the big deal about beating him up? He’s not worth comparing to my son!” Autumn replied confidently.
“True, a servant might not matter much. But what about Grandpa’s medicinal wine?” Patrick shot back. “Torben is making a joke out of Grandpa’s health. Don’t you think that’s serious?”
“Disgraceful behavior?”
“Cut the nonsense!” Autumn’s face changed slightly. “Who can say if the medicinal wine was poisoned? My son might have stopped him because he noticed something was off with the wine!”
“That’s just your opinion,” Patrick said calmly.
“Shut up!” Autumn shot him a fierce look. “Are you accusing me? How dare you blame someone of my standing?” Unable to counter his argument, Autumn decided to assert her authority, which only made him more suspicious.
“Enough! Stop arguing!” Spring slammed his hand on the table to bring the fighting to a halt. “Autumn, I will look into this matter thoroughly. Go get Torben treated.”
“Investigate what? My son is hurt badly! I will have my revenge, no matter what!” Autumn shouted in anger.
“That’s right! It doesn’t matter why. The Hill family will not be pushed around!”
