An Understated Dominance - Chapter 55

After enduring horrific torture, Dahlia finally lost consciousness. Her back was a bloody mess, with fresh wounds still bleeding profusely. Even in her unconscious state, her body twitched uncontrollably.

“General, she has lost consciousness!” one of his men reported.

“Wake her up and keep going,” Travis said coldly.

“Uncle Travis, can I have a turn?” Edward asked eagerly. Ever since he was crippled, he had changed. The more beautiful a woman was, the more he wanted to hurt her.

“Go ahead,” Travis replied with a nod.

“Thank you, Uncle Travis!” Edward grinned in a creepy way.

When Dahlia regained consciousness, Edward raised the whip and struck her.

“Tell me!” he demanded.

“Just kill me!” Dahlia cried out, unable to bear the pain any longer. Her mind was pushed to the edge, and all she wanted was for her suffering to end.

“Kill you? Not so fast! I haven’t had enough fun yet!” Edward said, his sadistic smile widening as he continued the torture.

Eventually, Dahlia, now covered in bruises, fell into another coma.

“General, if this keeps up, she will die soon,” the adjutant warned.

“This woman is so stubborn!” Travis said, impressed. Normally, this torture device forced confessions after just a few lashes. Even trained soldiers couldn’t withstand a dozen strikes. Yet, Dahlia had endured many without giving in. Travis couldn’t help but admire her resilience.

“Hang her at the entrance as bait. Remove the surrounding guards and see if Dustin will show up,” he ordered.

“Come to rescue her!” Travis commanded.

“Yes, sir!” the adjutant replied, hanging the unconscious Dahlia at the gates.

“Don’t you die on me! I’ll have my fun with you when I capture Dustin!” Edward grinned, licking the blood from the corner of his mouth.

Meanwhile, Dustin had just finished his meal at the Peaceful Medical Center when he received a call. It was Hunter Anderson, and he sounded urgent.

“Mr. Rhys, I’ve got bad news! Ms. Nicholson has been arrested!”

“Arrested?” Dustin frowned, concerned.

“It’s Travis Spanner! He’s arrested Ms. Nicholson and her family for treason. They’re being punished privately right now!” Hunter explained.

Dustin’s heart sank. He knew Travis well; no one could withstand his torture techniques in the war zone.

“Where is Travis?” Dustin asked, anxiety creeping in.

“At the Spanner Villa. But Mr. Rhys, Travis has set a trap for you. You need to be careful—”

Before Hunter could finish, Dustin hung up and rushed out.

When he arrived at Spanner Villa, he was horrified to see a woman hanging from the front doors. Her hair was a mess, her clothes were torn, and blood was dripping down her body. It was a terrible sight.

Dustin’s eyes widened in shock as he realized it was Dahlia!

Fury surged through him. He clenched his fists, and a powerful energy surrounded him, causing rocks to fly and the air to chill.

In a flash, Dustin leaped forward, cutting the rope with one hand. He caught Dahlia, who was bleeding, and gently lowered her to the ground.

At that moment, Dahlia had…

Dahlia had already passed out, and the wounds on her back looked terrible. The sight of those whip marks broke Dustin’s heart like a sharp knife.

“Just kill me,” Dahlia mumbled, barely conscious. She must have been in so much pain to wish for death.

“I’m sorry.” Dustin’s hands shook, and tears filled his eyes. He knew Dahlia was suffering because of him. He had dragged her into this situation.

“Haha! Dustin Rhys, you’re finally here!” Edward shouted as he and his men stepped out slowly.

“You did this?” Dustin asked, lifting his gaze to the whip in Edward’s hand.

“So what? What can you do about it now?” Edward sneered, showing no fear. Although his uncle had pulled back half the troops, there were still more than a dozen heavily armed men around. Each one was strong enough to defeat many opponents. Taking down Dustin would be easy.

“Dustin, is it? Did you kill my brother, Trevor?” Travis asked, stepping forward.

“It was me,” Dustin replied flatly, keeping his eyes on Edward.

“I’m glad you admit it. Now, go pay for your sins at my brother’s coffin before I end your life,” Travis said coldly.

“Pay for my sins?” Dustin scoffed. “Even your superior, Adam Spanner, wouldn’t talk to me like this.”

Travis raised an eyebrow in surprise. Adam Spanner was the commanding general of the western army and was known only to a few. How did Dustin know about him?

“You know Chief General Spanner?” Travis asked, taken aback.

“I’ll give you a chance to take your own life out of respect for Adam. This way, your body might still be intact!” Dustin said firmly.

“Keep my body intact?”

Before Travis could answer, Edward laughed loudly. “Are you crazy? Open your eyes and see where you stand in this world!”

As he spoke, the other hidden elites stepped out of the shadows. Each soldier looked fierce and threatening.

But Dustin didn’t even glance at them. His eyes were locked on Edward, as if he were already a dead man.

“Your body might stay whole, but you’d end up with nothing but bones!” With that, Dustin quickly sprang into action.
