An Understated Dominance - Chapter 61
“Bitch, I’ll kill you!” Mr. Chansey shouted, touching his burned face. His anger boiled over, and he lunged at Dahlia.
Quickly, Dahlia reacted and delivered a powerful kick to Mr. Chansey’s crotch.
“Argh!” he yelled in pain, rolling on the floor and clutching himself, his face turning a dark purple.
“You disgust me!” she spat as she turned to leave the room.
As she walked out, she bumped into Dustin, who had been listening by the door. “What are you doing here?” she asked, annoyed.
“Nothing, I was just checking on you,” he replied, shrugging.
His eyes widened when he noticed Mr. Chansey writhing in pain on the floor. Dahlia was relieved she had taken care of him; if Dustin had stepped in, he would have made sure Mr. Chansey couldn’t use his hands again.
“We’re done here. Let’s go,” she said sharply, strutting out of the room in her high heels. She was clearly in a bad mood.
“Stop right there!” Mr. Chansey yelled, his expression fierce. “Running away like a coward after beating someone up? What do you think I am?”
Following his command, several security guards quickly formed a barrier in front of the main door to block their exit.
“You bitch! How dare you kick me? I’ll make sure you never see the light of day again!” he shouted as he charged at her, hand raised to hit her.
But Dustin stepped in and easily stopped his attack.
“Who do you think you are? How dare you interfere?” Mr. Chansey spat, seething with rage. “You’d better get away from me if you know what’s good for you!”
“What’s good for you!” Mr. Chansey hissed.
“You’d better apologize to her now before I rip your mouth open!” Dustin threatened, his eyes cold.
“Like hell I will!” Mr. Chansey spat, getting angrier by the second. He swung his fist at Dustin, but Dustin dodged the punch and slapped Mr. Chansey hard across the face.
Mr. Chansey stumbled back, his massive frame almost losing balance. The slap had disfigured his face, and when he opened his mouth, a few of his teeth fell out.
Everyone watching was shocked. No one expected Dustin to be so fierce. He had just slapped Mr. Chansey in front of everyone! Did he not realize this man was the manager of Eastern River Bank? An important person with power, money, and connections! Offending him was sure to bring trouble.
“How… dare you hit me?” Mr. Chansey said, looking at the loose teeth in his hand, his face twisted in anger.
“So what if I just beat you up? Do I need to make an appointment first?” Dustin replied casually.
“Do you even know who my backers are, you little punk? It’s the Spanners! How dare you touch me, do you want to die?” Mr. Chansey screeched, pulling out his phone to call for help.
“Hmm?” Dahlia frowned slightly and made a call of her own.
Fifteen minutes later, Florence arrived with a team of security staff, making a grand entrance. Next to her stood a handsome man in a sharp suit, exuding grace and elegance.
“Matt Laney?” Dahlia gasped, surprised.
Dahlia’s eyes widened in shock as she stared at him. Matt, her former upperclassman who had once tried to win her over, stood in front of her. They hadn’t seen each other since he left the country a long time ago, and she never expected him to return so soon—especially not with her mother.
“Dahlia! How are you? You’re not hurt, right?” Florence rushed in, her voice full of concern as she entered the room. She was worried about her daughter’s safety.
“I’m fine, Mom. There’s no need to worry,” Dahlia assured her, shaking her head gently.
“Long time no see, Dahlia,” Matt said politely.
“Yeah, long time no see,” Dahlia replied with a small nod. Though she was surprised by his sudden appearance, she decided to treat him like an old school friend for now.
“I heard you’ve been in some trouble recently, which is why I came here with your mom. If you need anything, just let me know,” he said with a confident grin.
“Exactly! Nothing is impossible with Matt around!” Florence chimed in.
“I don’t know if you heard, but our family got arrested. Thanks to Matt, we got out safely,” she continued. “He even caught that guy Chris and got back all the money we lost!”
“Just look at him! He’s the kind of guy you think of when you need someone capable!” Florence went on, praising him non-stop.
Dahlia could only manage a strained smile at all the compliments. “Thanks,” she mumbled.
“It’s no big deal. You don’t have to make me sound so amazing,” Matt replied with a laugh.
“What are you doing here, Rhys?” Florence asked suddenly, looking at Dustin who was standing next to her. She seemed a bit disgusted.
Dahlia looked at her mom, trying to explain. “Mom, it was Dustin who saved me.”
Florence frowned. “He saved you? I doubt it. It’s more likely he hurt you! If it weren’t for him offending Mr. Woods, our family wouldn’t be in this mess!”
“Mom, it all started because of me. Dustin had nothing to do with it,” Dahlia insisted.
“I can’t believe you’re still defending him! You’ll regret this!” Florence shouted, her anger rising. If Matt hadn’t been there, she might have said even worse.
Just then, Mr. Chansey, who had been quietly observing, finally spoke up. “Hey, hey, hey… Do I look invisible to you all?”
Matt turned his head slightly to look at him. “Who are you?”
“I’m the manager of this bank!” Mr. Chansey snapped, glaring at Matt. “I demand that these two pay for disrespecting me today!”
Matt’s expression hardened. “Do you know who I am? How dare you talk to me like that?”
“I don’t care who you are! You’re in my way, and I’ll make sure you regret it!” Mr. Chansey threatened.
Just then, two black cars pulled up outside the Eastern River Bank. A group of tough-looking men rushed in, led by a menacing figure in a trench coat, holding a cigar. His presence was powerful and intimidating.
“Finally, my backup is here. None of you will get out of here today!” Mr. Chansey laughed cruelly.
Dustin felt uneasy. He didn’t have any connections or a strong background, so he wondered why this man was acting so cocky.
Suddenly, someone whispered, “Holy crap! Isn’t that Sir Zims? What’s he doing here?”
“Sir Zims? The new chairman of the Drey Group?” another person chimed in.
“It’s him! I heard he even killed Sir Spanner to get to the top!” one exclaimed.
“That guy is finished. I can’t believe he got involved with Sir Zims,” another person said.
Whispers spread through the crowd as they caught sight of the man in the trench coat. Some even looked at Dustin with sympathy.
Sir Zims was infamous these days; just saying his name made people nervous.
Dustin felt a strange knot in his stomach as he stared at the intimidating figure before him. He suddenly realized that Mr. Chansey’s supposed supporter was actually his new follower, Mason Zims.
