An Understated Dominance - Chapter 66
Dustin didn’t care about wealth or riches. Right now, he needed rare herbs urgently. The old drunkard’s health was getting worse every day, and he might not survive the year without help. Dustin had to find five different rare herbs to treat him.
“I’m very picky about herbs,” Dustin said. “Your collection might not be what I need.”
“I can find you any herb you want!” Duane promised eagerly.
“Do you have Gozoraberry?” Dustin asked.
“Uh… no,” Duane replied, shaking his head.
“What about the Flower of Crimson Gem?” Dustin continued.
“I don’t have that either,” Duane admitted.
“How about Cherusia?” Dustin pressed on.
“Honestly, I’ve never even heard of those herbs,” Duane said, looking frustrated.
“What about aged Panax root and ancient Heliotrope? You’ve heard of those, right?” Dustin asked, narrowing his eyes.
“Yes! I know those herbs!” Duane said, relieved. They were expensive, but at least he recognized them.
“Do you have them?” Dustin inquired.
“I’m not sure about the ancient Heliotrope, but I can get the aged Panax root. It will take a few days,” Duane replied.
“Fine, come back when you have them,” Dustin said, waving him off.
“Please, Rhys! My chest hurts so much! I can’t take it anymore! Help me first! I promise I’ll send the Panax root in a few days!” Duane pleaded, losing his patience.
Dustin stayed quiet and turned to Natasha, who was standing next to him. He didn’t trust Duane. What if he changed his mind after Dustin helped him?
“Natasha, please talk to him. You know I always keep my promises!” Duane said, desperate for help.
“Please,” Natasha pleaded.
“Of course, Uncle Duane. I know you always keep your promises. But I think we can get more than just Panax root,” she suggested.
“What else do you need? I’ll do my best to get it,” Duane replied quickly. He understood that Natasha was trying to negotiate for more now that they had the upper hand. But he wasn’t in a position to argue.
“Uncle Duane, I heard you have several properties in Swinton, especially the Hillview Hotel, which is doing really well. Why not give it to Dustin as a gift?” Natasha said, a sly smile appearing on her face.
“What?” Duane’s expression changed. Hillview Hotel was his biggest asset! If he sold it, he could easily make a billion dollars. This was a steep request!
“Are you not willing to part with it?” Natasha raised an eyebrow.
“Of course not! If Rhys saves me, I’d gladly give up a hotel!” Duane forced a smile. He had no choice but to agree to their demands.
“Dustin, since Uncle Duane is being so generous, why don’t you help him this time?” Natasha turned to Dustin and winked.
“Alright,” Dustin replied. He took out a black pill and tossed it to Duane. “You’ll be fine after taking this.”
“What is this?” Duane frowned, looking at the pill that resembled something unpleasant. Was he really about to lose nearly a billion dollars for this?
“If you don’t believe me, you don’t have to take it,” Dustin said, giving him a choice.
“I have to try!” Duane decided, steeling himself as he swallowed the pill. He needed to see if it worked.
The pill dissolved quickly, and soon Duane felt warmth spreading through his body. As the warmth spread, the pain in his chest started to fade away. Within minutes, the sharp, agonizing pain disappeared completely.
Duane was amazed. “It actually worked?” he said, feeling a wave of surprise wash over him.
He checked himself, patting his arms and legs to confirm he was okay. After making sure everything was fine, he let out a long sigh of relief.
