An Understated Dominance - Chapter 68
“Are you serious? Five million dollars for Deluxe VIP?” James couldn’t believe it.
“Exactly! This is outrageous!” Florence was furious, trying to hide her embarrassment. She was relieved she pulled her card back in time; otherwise, she would have ended up with a huge charge.
“These prices are set by our owner. If that’s too high for you, you can go for the regular VIP,” the waiter explained.
“And how much is the regular VIP?” Florence asked.
“A deposit of one million dollars will get you a regular VIP status,” the waiter replied.
“One million? That’s hardly any better!” Florence frowned. “We just want a meal. It shouldn’t cost this much. Can’t you let us in? I promise to tip you well!” If she had known Hillview Restaurant had such high prices, she would never have picked it.
“I’m sorry, but we only serve VIPs,” the waiter said with a polite smile.
“Why are you being so strict? Get me your manager! I want to speak to him!” Florence was losing her patience.
“I’m sorry, but our manager is currently busy with three other important guests,” the waiter said, his smile starting to fade.
“Ugh!” Florence was frustrated. “Mom, let’s just go somewhere else,” James suggested. As beautiful as Hillview Restaurant was, it was far too expensive.
“We’re already here! It would be embarrassing to leave now!” Florence glared at him. “Let me handle this, Mrs. Nicholson.”
Matt stepped forward with a smile. He pulled out a gold card and handed it to the waiter. “I’m a Gold VIP, so I get 20% off all my spending here.”
“Gold VIP?” Florence was shocked. “How much did that cost you?”
“Not too much, just ten million dollars,” Matt replied casually.
Matt smiled.
“Ten million?” Florence and James’ eyes widened in surprise. Was he joking? Ten million dollars didn’t seem like too much to him. They thought they were doing well, but it turned out they were nothing compared to Matt!
“Please step inside, honored guests!” The waiter’s attitude changed instantly, becoming very welcoming once he confirmed that Matt’s card was valid.
“Shall we?” Matt politely gestured for Florence and James to go ahead.
“Hmph! Bootlicker! My friend Matt here is a Gold VIP! See that?” James strutted in confidently after giving the waiter a disdainful look.
Chapter 68
Feeling proud, Florence walked in with her chest puffed out and head held high. Just then, Dustin walked out of one of the private rooms. He had been on his way to the restroom when he ran into them.
“Rhys? What are you doing here?” James frowned when he saw him. He was still bitter about being slapped earlier.
“If you can be here, then so can I,” Dustin replied coldly.
“Ha! What makes you think we’re in the same league? We are Gold VIPs here,” James said arrogantly.
“That’s right! This place is only for VIPs, and even the basic VIP requires a deposit of one million dollars. Can you afford that?” Florence added with a condescending tone.
“Actually, I don’t have a million dollars,” Dustin admitted. It was true that he didn’t have much money, but getting it wouldn’t be too difficult.
“Then what are you doing here if you can’t pay? Get out! You’re lowering the standards!” James scoffed.
“Exactly! Take a good look at yourself! Who do you think you are to be in such a fancy restaurant?” Florence chimed in.
sniggered.
“Hey! You there! Come here and get this guy out! He’s ruining our meal!” James waved over a waiter to remove Dustin from the restaurant.
“I’m sorry, but he is one of our guests too,” the waiter said with an apologetic smile.
“So what? We are Gold VIPs! Is he more important than us? I’m telling you to get rid of him! This is an order!” James shouted.
“Um…” The waiter seemed uncomfortable.
“What? Are you going to ignore a Gold VIP? With service like this, I might just complain about you!” Florence threatened.
“I apologize, but we don’t have rules for that here,” the waiter said, feeling trapped.
“Hmph! If you can’t handle this, get your manager!” Florence demanded.
“That’s right! Get the manager! I want to see if he cares more about this guy than his Gold VIPs!” James and Florence pressed on, making a scene about their VIP status. Even other diners were giving them disapproving looks.
Under their pressure, the waiter hurried off to find the manager.
“Mom, what are you both doing?” Dahlia called out as she arrived. She was surprised to see Dustin. “Why are you here?”
“I’m here for a meal, of course. Why else?” Dustin shrugged.
“This is a pretty expensive place to eat,” Dahlia reminded him.
“Oh, so you think I can’t afford to eat here too?” Dustin raised an eyebrow.
“I didn’t mean that…”
Just as Dahlia was about to explain, the waiter returned with the manager.
“I’m the manager. Is there a problem?” he asked.
“So you’re the manager? Great! There’s a man who sneaked in. I’m ordering you to get him out of here right now!” James said, full of arrogance.
“Sir, you must be mistaken. We have very strict security here. No one is…”
“You can’t just sneak in,” the manager said.
“But there is! I’m warning you, we are Gold VIPs! If you don’t want trouble, you better listen to me!”
“That’s right! He’s ruining my appetite. Just get him out of here!” Florence added.
Florence and James were not being polite.
“Could you tell me who you mean?” the manager asked.
“It’s him!” James shouted, pointing at Dustin.
The manager’s face darkened. “Excuse me, sir, don’t play dumb!”
“What? Are you challenging me? We are Gold VIPs!” James snapped, sounding frustrated.
The manager just scoffed. “It doesn’t matter if you’re Gold VIPs. Even if you were the President of Stonia, it wouldn’t matter. This man here is the owner of Hillview Restaurant!”
The room fell silent, everyone shocked by the revelation.
