An Understated Dominance - Chapter 82
“Who said I can’t do it? If no one else can save Granddad, then it has to be me!” Dustin said fiercely. He felt it was pointless to argue with women using logic!
“The only one who can save Grandpa now is the amazing Dr. Ross Leister!” Dahlia replied, looking serious.
“That’s right! Matt has already gone to call the doctor. If Dr. Leister agrees to help us, we can save Old Mr. Nicholson. We won’t need any quack like you,” Florence added.
“Dr. Ross Leister? Who’s that?” Dustin asked.
“He’s Dr. Cross’s apprentice and he specializes in rare diseases. He’s way better than you!” Florence said proudly.
Just then, two people walked into the room. First came Matt, followed by a man in his 30s wearing a white coat and glasses. He had a smug look on his face. “Matt! Did you get Dr. Leister?” Florence rushed over.
“Of course!” Matt replied with a kind smile. “This is Dr. Leister.”
“So you’re Dr. Leister! What an honor!” Florence exclaimed.
“You’re a talented doctor, Dr. Leister. Becoming Dr. Cross’s apprentice at such a young age is impressive!” someone else said.
“That’s right! With Dr. Leister’s help, Old Mr. Nicholson will recover!” everyone chimed in, eager to impress the young doctor.
Dr. Leister looked down at them, adjusting his glasses. “Honestly, I wouldn’t have come here if it weren’t for Mr. Laney. Most people who ask me for help are high-ranking officials, aristocrats, or wealthy individuals,” he said with a hint of arrogance.
“Of course! It’s an honor to have you here!” Florence and the others agreed, trying to win him over with flattery.
The doctor looked up, clearly irritated. “That’s enough. I’m a busy man, so let’s get this over with. Where’s the patient?”
“Over here!” Florence said, leading him to Henry’s bed.
The doctor examined Henry and nodded. “Hmm… So it’s Havaska? This could be a bit tricky, but a bowl of hot medicine should do the job.”
“Really? That’s great!” everyone cheered. They were relieved to have found the right doctor for treatment.
“Doctor, are you sure about that?” Dustin asked.
“What?” The doctor frowned, adjusting his glasses. “And who are you to question me?”
“If it was Havaska, then hot medicine would work. But Granddad has something different. It’s the Flaming Frost Poison!” Dustin insisted.
“The Flaming Frost Poison? I’ve never heard of it!” The doctor glared at Dustin. “Who are you to criticize me?”
“Dr. Leister, don’t listen to him. He doesn’t know what he’s talking about,” Florence smiled at the doctor before turning to Dustin. “You need to stop talking, Rhys! You’ll get yourself in trouble if you offend Dr. Leister!”
“I’m just stating the facts. If he hasn’t heard of the poison, I have every right to question his skills,” Dustin replied, shaking his head.
“Do you even know who I am? How dare you speak to me like that!” the doctor shouted, anger rising in his voice.
“I heard you’re Rowan Cross’ apprentice, but you still have a long way to go. If anyone should be treating him, it’s Rowan,” Dustin said calmly.
Dustin was worried that Henry would only get worse if the doctor treated him for Havaska instead of the real problem. He didn’t trust this man’s abilities at all.
“Hey! Are you done yet? Who do you think you are?” the doctor snapped.
“Do you really think you deserve my mentor’s help?” the doctor shouted angrily.
“Dustin, Dr. Cross is on a retreat and doesn’t take requests easily. Even Dr. Leister wouldn’t dare bother him,” Matt warned.
“Mr. Laney! I came here because you asked me to. Instead of thanking me, I’m being questioned. If this is how I’m treated, I will stop treating this patient!” The doctor turned to leave, causing chaos in the room.
“No! Please, Dr. Leister! This guy is talking nonsense. Don’t get angry!” Florence begged, pulling him back. She then turned to Dustin and shouted, “Rhys, shut up! How dare you criticize Dr. Leister’s way of treating patients? Get out!”
“That’s right! Who do you think you are to challenge Dr. Leister?” someone else added.
“Dustin Rhys! How could you be so heartless? Are you really going to drive Dr. Leister away and let Old Mr. Nicholson die?”
Angry voices filled the room as everyone started yelling at Dustin. People couldn’t believe someone like him, who only cared about showing off, would be so cruel.
“Enough of this! This kid is driving me crazy. Throw him out, or I won’t treat the patient anymore!” the doctor threatened.
“Of course!” Florence quickly apologized. She turned to Dustin and said, “Didn’t you hear Dr. Leister? Get out of here!”
“Yeah! Leave! You’re only making Old Mr. Nicholson’s condition worse!” others chimed in.
“I’m just trying to look out for Grandpa. This person isn’t trustworthy,” Dustin protested.
“Shut up!” Dahlia yelled. “Dustin, it’s one thing not to have skills, but don’t make things worse. Get out now!”
Dustin frowned and said, “You don’t believe me either?”
Dahlia replied, “You’re a pathological liar, so why should I?” She pointed at the door and firmly said, “Get out right now. Don’t bother Dr. Leister!”
