An Understated Dominance - Chapter 85
“He… He’s awake?!” Everyone was shocked. No one expected that a simple glass of warm water was all Henry Nicholson needed to wake up. It felt like a miracle!
“Did Dustin really cure the old man?” someone asked in disbelief. “That’s strange. Even Dr. Leister couldn’t help him. How did he do it?”
The crowd exchanged surprised glances as they saw Henry’s breathing become steady. For a moment, they looked at Dustin in a new way. They had never imagined that someone from a background they didn’t know could cure Henry. “Granddad, how do you feel?” Dahlia asked eagerly.
“It’s strange. One moment I felt cold, and then I felt hot. Now, I think I’m okay,” Henry replied, running his hands over his body in surprise. Just a short time ago, he thought his life was over. He never expected that feeling would disappear so quickly!
“Dad, are you really okay?” Florence asked, still in disbelief.
“Of course! I feel refreshed and full of energy!” Henry smiled.
Hearing this, everyone sighed with relief. Although they were surprised, they still had doubts.
“When did Dustin learn to cure illnesses?” they wondered.
“No way! The patient was clearly dying. How did you save him?!” Ross asked, finally coming back to reality. He was the only one who knew how irregular Henry’s heartbeat had been. It seemed impossible to treat, even for him.
How had Dustin managed to cure Henry? How could this guy be more skilled than him? After all, he was the apprentice of the great Dr. Rowan Cross!
“You couldn’t cure him, but that doesn’t mean I can’t. You should learn more from your mentor so you don’t keep embarrassing yourself!” Dustin said coldly.
“You jerk! What was that powder you used? What did you do?!” the doctor shouted angrily.
“A glass of warm water,” Dustin replied.
Dustin must have mixed in something special to cure him.
“How can you call yourself Dr. Cross’s apprentice if you don’t even know what Hexanavir is?” Dustin teased.
“What? That was Hexanavir?!” The doctor’s eyes grew wide in shock.
“Dr. Ross, what’s Hexanavir? Is it rare?” Florence asked curiously.
“Rare? It was Dr. Cross’s life’s work. He spent years creating that antidote! With just a tiny bit, you can cure any rare disease. It’s priceless. No amount of money can buy it!” the doctor explained.
Chapter 35
“Wow! It’s that amazing?” Florence said, surprised.
“No wonder you could cure him so quickly. You used Hexanavir!” Dr. Ross suddenly remembered something and looked at Dustin. “Wait a minute. How did you get Hexanavir? It was my mentor’s greatest achievement! Did you steal it?!”
“Steal?” Dustin laughed. “I’m not that low.”
“How can you say that? Hexanavir is my mentor’s treasured work. He wouldn’t even share it with his apprentices. How did you get it if you didn’t steal it?” the doctor shouted.
The room erupted with noise. Everyone turned to Dustin, some suspicious, others looking down on him with contempt.
“Rhys! I can’t believe you’d stoop so low. You’d steal someone else’s precious medicine just to get attention!” Florence yelled.
“That’s right! For a moment, I thought you actually had talent. Turns out, you just wanted to outshine Dr. Leister!” another voice chimed in.
“You’re pathetic. Without any skills, you resort to stealing!” Everyone shook their heads in disgust and continued to mock him.
“Dustin! Why? Why did you steal it?” Dahlia asked, frowning. She had thought that…
Dustin was a talented individual, but now he was accused of stealing Dr. Cross’ antidote.
“I’ll say it again. I did not steal anything. It was given to me as a gift,” Dustin insisted.
“A gift? Who do you think you are? Why would my mentor give his Hexanavir to you? Look in the mirror and think about your actions!” Ross shouted angrily.
“Believe me or don’t. It’s your choice,” Dustin replied, not wanting to explain himself any further.
“Are you guilty then? I’m warning you. Return the Hexanavir to me right now, or you’ll face the consequences!” the doctor threatened.
“Dustin! Have some dignity! Even if you want attention, you can’t do something so low. Give it back now!” Dahlia ordered.
“I don’t want to argue with any of you. Get Dr. Cross to take it back from me!” Dustin’s face darkened, and his anger began to boil.
“Hey! You think you’re tough after stealing? Hand it over now!” Ross yelled, reaching for the bottle.
In a sudden move, Dustin slapped the doctor across the face, causing Ross to stumble back in shock. The crowd gasped; they had never seen Dustin act so wildly. After allegedly stealing someone’s medicine, he had just slapped someone. How bold!
“You… you dare hit me?” Ross exclaimed, holding his face in disbelief.
“So what if I did? Do I need to schedule an appointment for that?” Dustin smirked.
“Bastard! You’ve got guts doing something like that! You have no idea what the Crosses are capable of! If you don’t want to…”
“Die, you’d better kneel and beg for my forgiveness!” the doctor shouted angrily.
“Apologize? Why should I apologize to you?” Dustin replied with a sneer.
“Alright! You asked for this!” The doctor glared at him and took out his phone, dialing a number.
“Dustin, if I were you, I would apologize to Dr. Leister right now,” Matt warned.
Matt continued, “You should know that the Crosses have helped many important people. If you hurt Dr. Leister, you’ll make an enemy of Dr. Cross and the whole Cross family!”
“So what?” Dustin shrugged, unfazed. “So what?!”
Matt looked at him as if he were crazy. “You’re so stubborn. When Dr. Cross arrives, you’re finished!”
“Who’s finished?” a strong voice boomed from the doorway. An older man in a doctor’s coat stepped inside, his presence commanding attention. It was Dr. Rowan Cross!
