“Sir! You’re here?!” Ross exclaimed in surprise when he saw Dr. Rowan Cross. He hurried over to greet the older man, showing him the respect he deserved. At that moment, Ross felt very humble.

“Sir?” Ross thought. “Could this be the great Dr. Cross?!”

Once they realized who he was, the Nicholson family buzzed with excitement. They gathered around Dr. Cross, eager to impress him.

“Oh my! What an honor to meet you in person!” someone said. “I’ve heard so much about you, Dr. Cross. I’m so lucky to meet you!”

Everyone praised the doctor. He was famous all over the world, known not only for his incredible healing skills but also for his powerful connections. A single word from him could change someone’s life.

“Dr. Cross, aren’t you supposed to be resting? Why are you here?” he asked curiously. “A friend called me and said you were causing trouble with a patient. Is that true?” Rowan asked, looking unhappy.

Earlier that day, he had received a call from his biggest supporter, which made him rush to the hospital quickly.

“A friend?” The Nicholson family exchanged glances before turning to Matt. They thought only someone important could be a friend of Dr. Cross, and Matt was the only one in the room who fit that description.

“Dr. Cross, I’ve heard a lot about you!” Matt said as he stepped forward. “I’m Matt Laney from Millsburg. I believe you’ve met my father.”

“Oh…” Rowan replied softly, looking around the room as if searching for something. He didn’t even look at Matt.

Feeling rejected by the doctor’s cool response, Matt fell silent, awkwardly shifting his weight.

“Sir! Did you lose something recently?” Ross asked.

“Lost something?” Rowan raised an eyebrow. “What do you mean?”

“Earlier, someone here stole your antidote,” Ross explained.

“Fortunately, I caught him just in time, so you won’t lose anything!” the doctor said, excitement in his voice. Hexanavir was the most valuable treasure of his mentor. Now that he had helped recover it, he expected to be rewarded.

“Who stole my antidote?” Rowan asked, confused.

“It’s him!” the doctor exclaimed, pointing at someone behind Rowan. “He’s the one who took your Hexanavir! He even claimed you gave it to him as a gift. Luckily, I saw through his lies. If I hadn’t, he would have escaped with the antidote!”

“Dr. Cross, Dustin’s actions have nothing to do with us. If you want him, just go after him! It’s not our problem,” Rowan replied.

“That’s right! Just get rid of him!” others from the Nicholson family chimed in, worried about getting into trouble. But no one expected the dark look that crossed Rowan’s face.

“Dustin, what are you waiting for? Return the antidote and apologize! If you’re lucky, Dr. Cross might forgive you!” Rowan urged.

Dahlia tried to signal to him. Even though she disliked his actions, she felt sympathy for him when he found himself in trouble.

“You’re finished! You dare to steal my mentor’s treasure? No one can save you today!” Ross sneered, looking pleased with himself.

Everyone knew that while Rowan’s mentor was kind, he was serious about medicine. There was no way he would let Dustin get off easily for taking his antidote.

“Dr. Cross, you’ve done well training your apprentice. Since this antidote is so valuable, I’ll give it back to you,” Dustin said, pulling out the bottle of Hexanavir and tossing it to Rowan.

Rowan was nearly knocked off his feet in shock.

Ross still didn’t understand what was happening and kept mocking Dustin.

“Bastard! Are you scared now? You should have thought of that earlier! Even if you give it back now, it’s too late! I want you to kneel and apologize. Maybe then I’ll let you go!” Ross, the doctor with glasses, yelled, holding his head high.

“Shut up!” At that moment, Rowan lost his patience and slapped Ross hard across the face.

Ross went crashing to the ground, feeling like his head had been knocked out of place. Blood began to trickle from his nose.

“W-why did you hit me, sir? He’s the one you should be hitting!” Ross exclaimed, stunned as he held his face. He couldn’t understand what he had done wrong. His master seemed to have hit the wrong person.

“How dare you disrespect Mr. Rhys? You’re the one who deserves a slap!” Rowan shouted angrily. He picked Ross up and slapped him several more times.

With each slap, Ross’s face turned darker and darker, and even some of his teeth began to fall out.

Everyone around was confused.

“What is happening? Shouldn’t Dr. Cross be yelling at Dustin? Why is he hitting his own apprentice?” they wondered.

“You fool! Who gave you the right to disrespect Mr. Rhys? I’ll beat some sense into you!” Rowan yelled, continuing to hit Ross without mercy.

If Dustin hadn’t stepped in to stop Rowan, Ross might not have made it out alive.

For years, Rowan had been searching for Dustin to repay him for his kindness. Now that they were finally face to face, it should have been a special moment. But Ross, his useless apprentice, had openly mocked his greatest ally. He was clearly asking for a beating!

After letting out his frustration, Rowan handed a bottle of Hexanavir to Dustin and said, “Mr. Rhys, I’m…”

“I’m really sorry. It’s my fault for not training him properly, and you had to deal with all of that. Please forgive me!”

Rowan dropped to his knees in front of Dustin.

Everyone watched in shock, unable to speak. Their eyes grew wide as if they had seen a ghost.

“The great Dr. Cross is kneeling and apologizing to someone ordinary? What is going on?!” they all thought.
