An Understated Dominance - Chapter 88
“Rhys! What’s your problem? Just because you saved the old man doesn’t mean you have to be so rude about it!” Florence shouted, clearly upset. How could he treat her daughter like that? Did he think he was better than everyone else?
“At least I saved him! What about the rest of you? He almost died because of you all!” Dustin shot back, his tone icy.
“What’s with this attitude?!” Florence exclaimed, almost at her breaking point.
“Enough! Stop yelling at each other! This is embarrassing!” Henry interrupted. “Florence, you and the others, go outside. I need to talk to Dustin for a bit.”
“Humph!” Florence huffed, unhappy but knowing she had no choice but to leave.
Once they left the room, the group began to whisper among themselves.
“Do you think Old Mr. Nicholson wanted to discuss his will with Dustin or something?” one asked.
“I’m not sure. Dustin is good at getting on Old Mr. Nicholson’s good side. We need to be careful,” another replied.
“Ha! I don’t get it. James is his real grandson, but Old Mr. Nicholson seems to like that guy more. What’s going on with him?” someone else chimed in, sharing their frustration.
“By the way, where’s James? Why isn’t he here while Old Mr. Nicholson is sick?” Dahlia wondered as she looked around the room.
“He went out drinking with his friends. We couldn’t reach him on his phone. He probably left it on silent,” Florence said, shaking her head.
“Humph! He only knows how to go to bars and drink. He has no sense of responsibility!” Dahlia frowned. With behavior like that, it was no wonder their grandfather preferred Dustin over his own grandson.
“Ms. Nicholson! Something’s wrong!” Lyra exclaimed as she rushed in, still wearing her work clothes. She looked worried.
“What’s going on?” Dahlia asked, looking puzzled.
“I just got a call that your brother started a fight with some people,” Lyra explained. Everyone looked shocked by the news.
“What? Who would dare bully my son?!” Florence shouted, anger rising inside her. She didn’t realize that her son was the one who had started the fight.
“I don’t have all the details, but I heard there were a lot more people on the other side. If we don’t get there soon, James could be in real trouble,” Lyra added.
“Then let’s go help him!” Florence exclaimed, rolling up her sleeves as if she was ready to jump into action.
“He always gets into trouble. It’s so frustrating! Lyra, hurry and get more people to the bar!” Dahlia ordered as they rushed towards the pub. After all, James was her brother, and if he was in trouble, it was her responsibility to fix it.
Meanwhile, in another hospital room, Dustin answered a call from Duane.
“Hey, Dustin! I found the rare Panax root you wanted. Can we meet up and talk?” Duane said.
“Oh? Where are you?” Dustin replied.
“I’m at the Enchanted Tavern. I’ll wait for you here!” Duane responded.
“Okay, I’ll be there,” Dustin said before hanging up. He quickly said goodbye to Henry and headed out. The 500-year-old Panax root was extremely valuable, and he couldn’t pass up this chance.
Half an hour later, when Dustin arrived at the Enchanted Tavern, he saw Dahlia waiting by her car.
“Why are they here?” Dustin thought, feeling confused but choosing not to approach them just yet.
He walked in behind a group of people.
