An Understated Dominance - Chapter 89
The bar was packed with people. Some were just watching, while others were caught up in a fight.
The main focus of the onlookers was a small group led by James. Several members of this group had bruises on their faces and blood streaming down. They knelt on the ground, looking defeated.
“James, what happened to you?” Dahlia frowned when she saw her brother’s injuries.
“Sis! You made it!” James stumbled to his feet, looking relieved to see her, almost like he had found an angel.
“Oh, my poor son! Who did this to you? Tell me, and I’ll make them pay!” Florence cried out, her heart breaking for her son. Even when he messed up, she couldn’t be angry with him. She would never let anyone hurt him like this.
“Mom! It was that jerk over there!” James pointed angrily behind him.
Florence turned to see a stunning woman in a revealing dress sitting at a table. A few strong-looking men stood behind her.
“Listen up! You’re all in big trouble! My sister is the president of the Quine Group! You will pay for what you did to me!” James shouted. He wanted them to suffer for what they had done.
“The Quine Group? Is it really that powerful?” the woman in the red dress asked, swirling her glass of wine, completely unfazed.
“Ha! You really don’t know the Quine Group? It’s clear you don’t belong to the upper class. Let me warn you: apologize to my son and pay for his medical bills, or you’ll regret it!” Florence warned.
“Old hag! How dare you talk to our boss like that? I’ll cut your tongue out!” one of the men behind the woman shouted, pulling out a switchblade.
“What? Are you threatening me? You think you can scare me?” Florence scoffed, taking a couple of steps back.
Dahlia stepped back, feeling scared but trying to stay strong. “What happened?” she asked, always the one who thought things through.
The woman in the red dress rose slowly and pointed at James. “You should ask your brother. He caused a scene at my place and even attacked my men. I was just teaching him a lesson. I’m not being unreasonable, am I?”
“I’ll pay for the damage,” Dahlia replied, frowning. “But why did you have to be so harsh with him?”
“Harsh? Ha! I went easy on him. He could have lost more than just a few limbs!” The woman laughed cruelly. “Enough talk! If you want this to end without further trouble, you need to give me 700 thousand dollars! If not, none of you are leaving this room!”
“700 thousand dollars? Why don’t you just go rob someone?!” James shouted angrily.
“That’s right! You think you can just ask us for money after hurting my son? Who do you think you are?!” Florence glared at the woman.
“You all better think carefully while I’m still being nice. Once my man arrives, it won’t be just about money,” the woman said calmly.
“So what if you have a man? Tell him to come here right now! I want to see how tough he really is!” Florence challenged, showing no fear.
“You’re making a big mistake! Do you even know who our lady’s man is? He’s Sir Draco, the leader of South City, known as the Cobra!” one of the men bragged.
“The Cobra?!”
The Nicholson family turned pale at the mention of his name.
Swinton was divided into four main territories: North, South, East, and West Cities. East City was ruled by the King of the Underworld, Trevor Spanner.
In South City, the notorious Cobra was in charge. He was known to be even more ruthless than the King of the Underworld. People said that the Cobra had a passion for raising alligators. Anyone who crossed him didn’t just suffer his wrath—they ended up being fed to his gators. The folks from West City knew they had to be very careful not to upset the Cobra. They were truly in a tough spot this time!
