Chapter 123
“It’s a mistake. You can return after she apologizes and promises not to do it again,” Chelsea advised Hank.
“Even if you don’t get divorced now, you shouldn’t concede defeat. If you do, your standing in the household will diminish. You’re a strong man who should be in control. You can’t allow a woman to bully you.”
Hank replied, “I definitely won’t go back for the next few days.”
Since Liberty wouldn’t be cooking for him, it would be better to stay at his parents’ house to recover and enjoy good food for a few days before returning to work when he felt fully healed.
Hank didn’t plan to keep this from Jessica. He sent a message to his lover, informing her that he was mistreated by his wife.
When Jessica received the news, she comforted him, which made Hank feel even more drawn to her.
Liberty felt relieved knowing that Hank wasn’t returning home. At least she wouldn’t have to seek refuge at Serenity’s house.
Upon arriving home, she noticed her son was still asleep, so she quickly applied a cold compress to her face and tidied herself up. She feared that her son would be frightened if he saw her like this when he woke up.
Hank had pulled out a significant amount of her hair, which was scattered across the floor. She cleaned it up with a broom.
Fortunately, Liberty had thick hair. Although a lot had been yanked out, it was not noticeable once she combed and tied it up.
Serenity was unaware of the abuse Liberty endured right after she left, or the fact that such a significant fight had occurred. After leaving her sister’s place, Serenity went to a pedestrian street to buy clothes and ties for Zachary.
Grandma May had told Serenity Zachary’s size, so she chose two sets of new clothes in black, his favorite color, along with two new ties. After completing her purchases, she returned to the bookstore.
During the evening rush hour, when students had just finished school, Zachary arrived around six o’clock. However, many students were attending extra classes after school, so the store wasn’t busy at that time. Understanding that Serenity needed some alone time with her husband, Jasmine smiled and said, “Serenity, go home with Mr. York. Don’t keep him waiting here for too long. I’ll take care of closing up tonight.”
