Chapter 132
Elisa didn’t want to be indebted to Serenity, but she also sensed a potential connection with her. Therefore, she handed Serenity her business card.
Serenity noticed the line of luxury cars and said understandingly, “You should be on your way, Ms. Stone. I wish you all the best.”
“Thank you.”
Elisa embraced the bouquet and carried the insulated lunchbox. Instead of rushing toward the luxury cars, she walked directly to the building’s entrance and positioned herself at the gate.
Serenity was taken aback.
Ms. Stone was truly impressive. Zachary was late getting to the office. Although he had left early that day, he needed to stop by the villa to collect something. After leaving the villa, the car was quickly caught in traffic. Regardless of the vehicle or its occupants, everyone faced the same morning rush hour congestion; no one could evade it.
The bodyguard in the passenger seat happened to be Jim, who had keen eyesight. He spotted Serenity immediately and turned to Zachary, saying, “Mr. Zachary, the Missus and Ms. Stone are together.” Zachary frowned, puzzled about how they ended up together, considering they hadn’t even met before.
He looked ahead. While he couldn’t recognize Elisa, he did recognize Serenity. After all, they had lived in the same house for a time and had even shared a kiss. He would have to be blind to not recognize her.
“Just ignore them,” he said quietly, leaning back in his seat.
The distance between them was closing rapidly.
Jim, concerned about being recognized by Serenity, deliberately looked away so she wouldn’t see his face.
The motorcade did not stop in front of Serenity. She watched as the convoy rolled past her.
She sighed inwardly as she noticed the Rolls Royce, which seemed oddly familiar, reminiscent of one she had seen multiple times in her neighborhood. However, upon recalling Mr. York’s identity, she quickly dismissed the possibility that it was the same vehicle.
As the motorcade came to a stop in front of the fearless Elisa, she couldn’t help but smile to herself. It was often said that women feared being pursued by men, but the reverse could also be true. “Elisa is bold and fearless. I believe she will soon win over Mr. York,” she thought.
Serenity made a cheering gesture toward Elisa before taking a detour on her e-bike and leaving. Meanwhile, in the car, Zachary averted his gaze, not wanting his wife to see his expression. When the car passed Serenity, he glanced over to find her pumping her fist in support of Elisa. He had to force himself to calm down, trying to suppress the urge to react violently.
It made sense now why he hadn’t noticed Elisa’s car; she must have arrived at the gate before him because Serenity had given her a ride on her e-bike. But how had they met?
Judging by Serenity’s enthusiastic gesture, it was clear she knew Elisa’s identity. Yet, it seemed improbable that they were acquainted. Elisa had grown up in luxury and was adored by her family, often ignoring other daughters of the Stone family. How could she have formed a friendship with Serenity? Zachary was perplexed.
