Zachary felt a twinge of concern that Serenity might struggle with the Hunt cousins, but he kept this to himself and didn’t even call her. Now that they had been married for nearly a month, he had a better understanding of Serenity’s personality. He knew she would reach out for help if things became overwhelming. The absence of any calls from her indicated that she was managing fine. Moreover, she had a solid foundation to stand on, so she wouldn’t be at a disadvantage.
With this in mind, Zachary switched to another car after work and drove to Wiltspoon School.

As Zachary was leaving the office, Josh grumbled that Zachary had been delegating all the business dinners to him lately.
Zachary replied, “I have a wife. I need to go home and spend some quality time bonding with her after work.”
Josh was left speechless.
“What a flimsy excuse! He’s clearly just trying to get out of it!”
Josh thought to himself. Ever since his marriage, Zachary had been neglecting his work, which was completely out of character for him.

Given his imposing presence, Zachary chose not to enter the shop, fearing he might scare the students away, which could hurt Serenity’s business.
Serenity had suggested that he should consider a career in education, as he was stricter than most teachers.
A little while later, the students returned to school in groups for their extracurricular activities.
Zachary stepped out of the car and entered the shop.
Serenity was tidying up the cash register when she noticed Zachary entering. Surprised, she watched him stride into the shop, feeling a sense of awe at his presence.

Snapping back to reality, Serenity smiled and asked, “Don’t you have to work late tonight? How did you find the time to see me?”
Initially, Zachary used to come home after midnight every day during their early marriage.
Deceiving her, Zachary replied in a low voice, “The project I was working on has wrapped up, so I don’t have any overtime tonight.”
“Oh.” Serenity then inquired, “Have you eaten? Should I order takeout for you?”
Before Zachary could respond, Jasmine approached and said, “Serenity, you should go home with Mr. York. I’ll take care of the shop. There’s not much happening at night anyway.”
Since students rarely had time to wander after extracurricular activities, few would visit the shop unless they were searching for reference materials.
“Alright. We’ll head back then,” Serenity agreed to her best friend’s offer to supervise the shop.
She gathered her belongings and pulled out a copper wire tree from under the cash register to give to Zachary. “I made this for you. Do you like it? The maneki-neko isn’t ready yet; I’ll probably need until tomorrow morning to finish it,” she explained.
Zachary accepted the miniature tree, pleased that his pot was larger than Callum’s. The harsh lines on his face softened as he replied gruffly, “Sure.” “I’m glad you like it. Let’s go,” Serenity said as she walked.
She waved goodbye to her best friend near the cash register before exiting the bookshop with her husband. She had hoped to ride her e-bike, but Zachary firmly stated, “We’re taking my car.”
