Chapter 154
Chapter 154
Chelsea interrupted Serenity while she was still speaking. “We should take responsibility for the children we bring into the world. The grandparents have no obligation to care for their grandchildren.”

“Exactly. Children should be the responsibility of their parents. So why don’t you take care of your own kids, Chelsea?”
Chelsea opened her mouth to respond, “My parents are happy to look after my children. You could tell your sister to ask your parents to take care of hers too.”
In response, Serenity picked up the glass of water in front of Chelsea and splashed it on her face.
“Ah! What was that for, Serenity!”
“I was just helping you clean your filthy mouth,” Serenity shot back with an indifferent glare at the mother and daughter.
Furious, Chelsea was ready to retaliate when Mrs. Brown intervened, holding her back. She said to her daughter, “Your sister-in-law’s parents have been gone for over a decade. You can’t blame Serenity for being upset after you made such a hurtful remark.”
“But she shouldn’t have splashed water on me! My clothes are now wet. Serenity, do you have any idea how much they cost? Can you afford to reimburse me?”
Seizing the moment, Jasmine, who had been sweeping with all her might, chimed in, “Your clothes would be worth a thousand bucks if they were the real deal. Too bad yours are knockoffs, so they aren’t worth much. If you spent over a thousand on them, you’ve been scammed. They’re probably worth no more than two hundred dollars.”
Chelsea scowled, pointing her finger at Jasmine as she yelled, “What do you know? You’re the one with the knockoff! Mine is genuine, and I spent over a thousand bucks. Can you even afford the brand? You must be jealous of me because you can’t buy them and resort to calling mine a knockoff.”
Jasmine clicked her
tongue. “The price tag on my clothes is several thousand dollars. A designer label can cost tens of thousands. Your clothes are something I use as a rag at home.”
“You…” Chelsea flushed with anger.
She had something to hide, having spent only a few hundred on her outfit. She had checked the original brand on its official website. With authentic pieces priced at over a thousand dollars, Chelsea couldn’t be certain she was wearing the real thing.
“Serenity,” Chelsea exclaimed. “You sure hire all kinds of people. You should fire her.”
Serenity replied coldly, “I’m sorry. She’s not my employee; she’s my partner. Are you certain your clothes aren’t a knockoff? Why do I get the impression that you’re masking your shame with anger?”
Who else but Chelsea would promote her knockoff as the real deal?
It was absurd for Chelsea to claim she couldn’t afford the clothes.
“Chelsea, let’s not discuss the clothes. Here’s my take on my sister and brother-in-law’s situation: As part of my sister’s family, I support her decision to split everything down the middle since Hank wants to go Dutch. He proposed this idea, so he should face the consequences. Why should he reap all the benefits while my sister covers everything else?”
