Chapter 157
“I need to talk to my sister. This situation can’t continue; she deserves better treatment.”
Liberty would always struggle without a source of income.
“What if we asked your sister to work at our shop? I’ll cover her wages, so you won’t have to spend anything. That way, Liberty can also take care of Sonny.”
That would be an added bonus.
Jasmine genuinely cared about Liberty’s well-being.
Serenity sighed. “My sister won’t accept the offer. She thinks our business isn’t thriving because I run an online venture for extra income.”
In reality, the shop was actually making some profit.
However, Liberty was unwilling to earn money at Serenity’s expense, and no amount of persuasion would change her mind.
“Liberty has a background in finance. I’ll ask Shawn if Lowe Enterprise is hiring right now. It would be fantastic to get Liberty into my uncle’s company. While it may not compare to York Corporation or Stone Group, it’s still a decent place with reasonable benefits.”
“Shawn could also keep an eye out for Liberty. She has extensive experience in her field.”
Serenity pondered this before asking, “Do you think it’s feasible? It’s been three years since her last job, and she has been out of touch with the world for quite a while, so she would be starting her career anew. Shawn is still learning the ropes in his family’s business, so he might not be in a position to hire my sister.”
“Are you taking Shawn to lunch this weekend? You could ask him if he can assist. I’ll speak to my uncle about the possibility of hiring,” Jasmine suggested, noting that her uncle was the manager of Lowe Enterprise.
“Alright, I’ll talk to Shawn about my sister. Thank you, Jasmine.”
“No need to thank me. What are friends for? Your sister is important to me too.”
Sister, I feel sympathy for the challenges Liberty is currently facing. I want to help her become independent. Women should be self-reliant rather than overly dependent on men. Jasmine has learned a lot from Liberty’s marriage.
Although Jasmine has money in the bank and plans to marry someone within her social class, she refuses to live at the mercy of a man. “Don’t stress about it. Liberty is practically helpless. Her career is merely on hold due to her child and marriage. She will regain her success and confidence once she escapes this situation.”
“However, you should encourage Liberty to go on a diet. She needs to take care of herself. She can’t expect others to be kind if she doesn’t treat herself well.” Jasmine always prioritized herself, and even Serenity spared no expense on high-quality skincare to maintain her appearance.
“I’ll have a serious conversation with my sister tonight.” Serenity believes her sister should lose some weight as well. Liberty, standing at five feet three inches, weighed ninety pounds before marriage, but has now ballooned to two hundred pounds.
Her sister should slim down not only for her appearance but also for her health. Liberty eats large meals for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, plus snacks in between, and her waistline has expanded due to a lack of exercise. Serenity enjoys eating, too, but she stays active to maintain her figure.
“Maybe I should call my sister now.” Just as she pulled out her phone to dial, it rang. It was Zachary. “Mr. York.”
