Chapter 161
“Warmest regards.”
“Um… Mr. York, thank you for sending me lunch. The food was incredible, and the dessert was fresh too.” The service at this major hotel was nothing short of exceptional.
Zachary’s voice remained emotionless. “I have a late lunch meeting at the Wiltspoon Hotel. You order takeout every day, and it’s not the healthiest option to eat excessively, so I ordered a few dishes and had the manager arrange for delivery.”
“Please try to avoid ordering takeout. If you’d like, I can arrange for daily food delivery from the hotel.” Zachary trusted the hotel under his company’s name. Moreover, he personally made the call to organize the entire arrangement. It was safer for Serenity to eat the hotel food rather than the takeout she usually ordered.
“Jasmine and I would cook if we had the time. We resort to takeout when we’re busy. Please don’t make this a daily arrangement. The Wiltspoon Hotel is the best in the city, and while the food is heavenly, I’m sure it’s quite pricey. It’s nice to enjoy the hotel meals occasionally, but we can’t afford to have them every single day.”
Even though Zachary earned a good salary, he ultimately worked for someone else.
Serenity brought home a monthly income of around twenty thousand dollars. With her online business thriving this month, her earnings surged to approximately thirty thousand dollars.
Despite her increased income, Serenity was careful not to squander her money. She saved 70% of her earnings each month, either depositing it in the bank or investing in low-risk wealth management products.
Zachary paused before responding, “You should try cooking your own meals. Stop ordering takeout. If you develop a habit of ordering out, I’ll have food delivered to your shop. At worst, I’ll end up spending all my money on food.”
“Alright, alright. I’ll buy groceries at the…”
There’s a supermarket near our home where I can shop. I plan to cook my own meals instead of dining out. Please don’t send me hotel food every day; we can’t afford such high prices. While we eat to live, it’s excessive to spend all our income on food.”
Zachary listened in silence.
To him, she seemed like just an average wage worker. Although Serenity was aware that he worked in a white-collar job, she had no idea what his salary was. She was merely trying to save money, concerned that her eating habits might deplete their finances.
It was evident that she wasn’t motivated by greed.
In fact, after spending considerable time with Serenity, Zachary realized he had misjudged her intentions regarding his finances.
