Chapter 175
The couple descended the stairs together. Zachary headed out for his morning run while Serenity hopped on her e-bike to visit the market. As she mounted the bike, Zachary reminded her, “Make sure to pick up extra groceries for your shop. You can prepare your own lunch instead of ordering takeout.”
“Understood,” she replied.
“I’ll have the Wiltspoon Hotel deliver meals to you daily if I catch you ordering takeout again,” he added.
Serenity turned her head to give him an annoyed look. “You’re such a squanderer!”
Zachary grimaced in response.
Nearby, a bodyguard pretending to pass by nearly chuckled at Serenity’s remark.
Determined not to waste another moment with the “squanderer,” Serenity pedaled away.
“The girl doesn’t know what’s good for her!” Zachary remarked after she was out of earshot.
In the marketplace, Serenity gathered a variety of fresh vegetables and long-lasting melons to stock the fridge. She placed the potatoes, carrots, and onions in a ventilated bag on the floor.
After changing out of his running clothes, Zachary emerged to examine her haul. He twitched at the sight but remained silent.
Serenity immediately began preparing a pasta dish.
She had also purchased some pork belly. First, she readied the ingredients by slicing the pork and dicing the tomatoes, then stirred the tomatoes on the stove until they turned to purée.
Zachary observed from the kitchen door before moving to the balcony. He settled onto the swing, swaying gently in the breeze as he admired the mini garden. It was quite relaxing; no wonder Serenity took the time to sit here every day.
Suddenly, his phone rang.
It was a call from Josh.
Zachary answered but kept his voice low, just in case.
his wife in the kitchen might overhear him. “Boss, Serenity’s outrageous relatives have found a mediator. They’re attempting to resolve their issues with her.”
Many situations involving the CEO’s wife would come through Josh’s hands, making him the first to be informed of any developments.
With his eyes turning cold and dark, he asked icily, “Haven’t you shut them down?”
“No. It’s easier on them if we eliminate them immediately. Instead, we should toy with him a bit so they gradually lose everything they possess. That’s real revenge.
“Since they’re backed into a corner in both their work and business, they’re more anxious than the missus. They sought out Serenity to reconcile their differences, but she refused. Now, they’ve turned to a mediator from some TV program for assistance.”
Zachary replied indifferently, “I don’t care what TV program it is. Just handle them. Don’t allow those people to harass my wife.”
Josh chuckled. “You seem angry.”
“Alright. I’ll take care of it and inform the producers that their shows will be canceled if any of their mediators bothers the missus. These mediators make crude remarks without knowing the full story. They have the audacity to encourage forgiveness and forgetfulness when they’ve never faced hardships themselves.”
Given everything the Hunts have done to Serenity and Liberty, anyone with a shred of decency would not suggest that Serenity reconcile with the Hunts.
It’s easy for mediators to speak freely when it’s not their heads on the chopping block.
“Boss, did the missus pack you any breakfast today? Could you ask her to pack extras? I’d like to try her cooking.”
“Get lost!” Zachary abruptly ended the call. Josh muttered, “Tsk, tsk. Look at that! Jealousy doesn’t look good on you.”
