“He could have waited,” Serenity continued. “Instead, he got upset when he found out I apologized and admitted my mistake.
I even tried to calm him down and offered to make him an extra craft before he could let it go.”
“I need to get his gift ready today; I don’t want to face his stoic expression when I get home tonight.”
Jasmine scolded Serenity, “Of course, he would be angry! You promised the maneki-neko to him, so it rightfully belongs to him.
You gave it to Ms. Stone without his permission.” “I acknowledged my mistake and apologized,” Serenity replied.
“He seemed unhappy when he came home last night anyway, so I guessed he had a tough day at work.”
The truth was that Zachary felt frustrated because Serenity hadn’t noticed he wore the clothes she gave him to work. Just then, Serenity’s phone rang.
She fished it out of her pocket and saw Grandma May on the caller ID before answering.

“You’re my priority, no matter how busy I am.” Serenity often used to meet with Grandma May for chats before her marriage.
Since then, Grandma May had rarely visited her.
