Chapter 202
Chapter 202
Serenity placed the bags on the coffee table before hugging Sonny and gently asking, “Sonny, are you eating porridge?” Sonny nodded. “Yes.” “Are you full?” Sonny rubbed his belly, considered his answer, and shook his head. He felt he hadn’t eaten enough and was still a little hungry. Serenity smiled, sat down in front of the sofa, and took the half-finished bowl of porridge from her sister. “I’ll feed Sonny, okay?” “Okay.” Jasmine greeted Liberty and set her own items on the coffee table. She also nodded at the Browns, while Liberty only turned to talk to her in-laws after Serenity took over feeding Sonny. “I won’t pick up Hank. He can come back whenever he wants. If he doesn’t want to, you two will have to take care of him.” Hank even asked Liberty to refund his share of the food expenses. What else could she say after things had gotten to this point?
Liberty knew she was partially at fault.
In terms of expenses, they added up to less than ten thousand dollars. Hank earned around seventy thousand dollars but spent less than ten thousand on his small family. Liberty couldn’t see or access the remainder of his income, so it was unclear whether he was spending it elsewhere or saving it for himself. Additionally, Hank provided his parents with a monthly allowance that certainly exceeded what he gave to Liberty. Thus, Hank’s earnings had little relevance to Liberty as his wife. She couldn’t understand how her three-year marriage had come to this. She had put up with so much! Was it for love? Perhaps. Liberty was shocked to realize how miserable she had become after feeling disheartened and disappointed lately. This was not the married life she had envisioned. If Serenity hadn’t provided her with five thousand dollars each month for the past few years, Liberty would have been even worse off. Serenity had more foresight than Liberty and…
Liberty was advised to save half of the $5,000 for herself; otherwise, she would likely face greater regret. After getting married, Liberty felt remorse for her incompetence and the way she was living.
