Chapter 208
Zachary was fuming, while Serenity was left speechless. Did he truly believe she was eager to find out? Serenity was only concerned because he was her husband on paper. She turned and walked away. When Zachary noticed Serenity walking away without a hint of concern for him, his frustration grew. “In the future, don’t answer the door in your pajamas!” Serenity headed toward the kitchen. “I’m wearing underwear.” Now that she was living with Zachary, she only removed her underwear at bedtime to avoid a repeat of this awkward situation. “Mr. York, how I dress is none of your concern. I recall the agreement you drafted, which specified that we should not interfere in each other’s private matters.” Zachary remained silent, his expression sour. The agreement he had created benefitted him entirely, with every clause restricting her, yet he felt as though he was the one being constrained.
Serenity entered the kitchen and poured him a glass of warm water. Once it cooled, she added honey and stirred it before bringing the drink to him. Zachary leaned back on the sofa, unable to fall asleep. When he saw Serenity emerging from the kitchen, he regarded her with indifference. Serenity approached with the glass of honey water and set it down in front of him. “I won’t argue with you since you’re drunk. Drink this honey water before going back to your room to wash up and sleep.” After saying this, she turned to leave. Suddenly, a large hand reached out and grasped her wrist. Serenity was yanked back and fell into Zachary’s arms. Despite having consumed a considerable amount of alcohol, Zachary remained agile. Before Serenity could react, he spun her around and pinned her down on the sofa. She felt disoriented for a moment, but by the time she regained her senses, she had already…
Zachary pressed Serenity down onto the sofa. “Zachary, what the hell are you doing?!” Wasn’t he the one who was always afraid she would take advantage of him? Now, Zachary was on top of her, their bodies stacked together like Legos. Who was taking advantage of whom?
“Did you really go to your sister’s house today?” Zachary asked, his mood sour after seeing Serenity and Shawn eating together. She had even served Shawn some dishes. He had told her countless times not to cheat on him during their marriage. If she wanted to date someone else, she needed to wait until their marriage was over. Yet, she had ignored him. How much did she like Shawn? He was just a young, clueless boy three years younger than Serenity. Did she want to be a cougar? Was she indirectly belittling Zachary for being older?
“I went to my sister’s house,” Serenity replied. Zachary’s intense gaze turned even colder. “Serenity, I’ll give you another chance to confess.”
“Confess to what? I didn’t do anything wrong, Zachary. Why are you acting so ridiculous tonight? If you have something to say, just say it and stop beating around the bush. No one can read your mind!” Serenity pushed him. “Get off me! Usually, when I touch your face, you look at me like I’m a pervert. What’s happening now? Who’s taking advantage of whom here?”
