Chapter 212
She had spent the entire night outside on the balcony.
Upon waking, she realized that Zachary had not returned home. If he had, he would have surely woken her.
Despite his cold demeanor and seemingly stone-like heart, he had always treated her with kindness, providing her with everything she deserved as his wife.
Serenity rose from the swing and headed into the hall to turn on the lights. The two handicrafts remained on the coffee table, and she paused for a moment before making her way to Zachary’s room.
The door was locked, and without the keys, she couldn’t open it.
It seemed likely that he had not come home. It was Monday, marking the start of a new week.
Even though Zachary hadn’t returned the previous night, Serenity refrained from calling him. He was still upset with her, so why would she risk being turned away?
Furthermore, she suspected he would not answer her call even if she tried.
Since Zachary was absent, Serenity decided not to eat breakfast at home. As the sun rose, she grabbed the car keys and went downstairs, planning to enjoy a casual breakfast before picking up Sonny from Liberty’s place, as Liberty would be job hunting today as well.
Upon reaching the parking lot, Serenity spotted Zachary’s national MPV. She halted and stared at the car. ‘I recognize that license plate. It belongs to Zachary. Did he not leave after all?’
After a moment’s hesitation, she took out her phone and sent him a message: Serenity: (Are you going to work today? I noticed your car is still parked downstairs.)
After sending the message, she stepped away and walked towards another vehicle.
Soon, she drove off.
When she arrived at Liberty’s house, she was taken aback to…
As she noticed her brother-in-law, Hank, had returned, Serenity exclaimed, “Hank, you’re back!” Hank promptly greeted his sister-in-law. Although Serenity was taken aback, she responded and inquired, “Are Liberty and Sonny awake yet?” Hank replied, “Your sister is making breakfast in the kitchen, but Sonny is still asleep.” Serenity found Hank to be quite courteous upon his return; however, she had no conversation to engage him in, so she headed directly to the kitchen. Hank, on the other hand, stepped out onto the balcony for a smoke, intentionally avoiding both his wife and sister-in-law in order to message Jessica.
Hank: [Babe, don’t eat breakfast yet. I’ll go to Wiltspoon Hotel to get you a delicious breakfast later. It’s far better than the roadside stalls you usually eat from.]
Jessica: [Thanks, honey. In that case, I’ll wait at the office for the delicious breakfast you’re bringing me.]
Hank sent her a kiss emoji.
Jessica: [Have you gone home?]
Hank: [Yeah, I bought this house and paid the mortgage. It’s mine. Why shouldn’t I live here?]
Jessica: [Is your wife’s name on the title deed?]
Hank: [No, I bought the house before we got married, and I didn’t add her name. I’ll include yours on it when we’re together in the future.]
His devotion to Jessica was evident.
Jessica smiled, thinking, ‘I know where Hank lives. The real estate there is expensive, and his house is worth millions, yet he’s willing to add my name to the deed. This must be true love.’
Soon after, she posed another question.
Jessica: (Hank, did you reconcile with your wife when you got home? Did she apologize to you?)
