Chapter 214
Liberty asked, “Why don’t you go out for breakfast?”
“No, I’ll just grab takeout. I have an appointment at noon and won’t be back for lunch. You can eat with Sonny.”
Noting that Liberty was only asking and didn’t hand him his coat and briefcase like before, Hank felt upset. He sensed that Liberty wasn’t catering to him, despite him providing for her. His sister treated her husband like royalty, and she even worked to contribute financially. ‘Liberty doesn’t do anything, yet she doesn’t treat me well either. No one can blame me for not loving her. She simply isn’t deserving,’ Hank rationalized his emotional infidelity. He went to retrieve his suit jacket, briefcase, and car keys before saying to his son, “Daddy is going to work now, Sonny. Goodbye.”
He didn’t leave until his son waved back at him. Once outside, he drove directly to Wiltspoon Hotel.
To his surprise, Jessica was waiting for him there.
“Mr. Brown.”
Dressed in a professional suit, Jessica appeared young yet intelligent and capable. With her delicate makeup, she looked several times more attractive than Liberty did at that moment.
“Why are you here? Didn’t I say I’d buy breakfast for you? Call me Hank when we’re outside. I prefer it when you use my name,” he said.
Hank exited the car and approached his young lover. He wrapped his arms around her shoulders as they entered the hotel. “Since you’re here, let’s eat at the hotel before heading back to the office.”
Jessica smiled charmingly. “I wanted to have breakfast with you, so I hurried over to wait for you. Are you surprised?”
“Yep,” Hank replied affectionately.
He then kissed Jessica on the cheek.
She blushed and playfully pushed him away, whispering, “Behave. We’re in public. If someone…”
She sees us and tells your wife, “I’ll become the disgraceful third party.” Hank, you say you love me. Can you bear to let me become a mistress?”
Her objective was to become Hank’s legal wife and replace Liberty as the lady of the house.
Her family’s situation was dire, and Hank was the most exceptional man she knew. Although her parents were aware of their relationship, she deceived them by claiming Hank was single.
They recognized Hank’s high salary and urged her to hold onto him, advising her to marry quickly before he was snatched away by other women. Hank kissed her again, reassuring her, “How could I bear to let you suffer, my precious darling? Don’t worry, I’ll divorce Liberty. I’ll do it as soon as my son starts preschool next year.”
Jessica pouted her red lips. “I have to wait until next year? Why not send some ambiguous photos to your wife anonymously to provoke an argument? Then you can take advantage of the situation to divorce her. But Hank, you can’t split the assets with her. Make sure she leaves with nothing!”
A malicious glint flashed in Jessica’s eyes as she spoke.
As the mistress, she had no qualms about opposing the legal wife. She simply wanted to ensure Liberty couldn’t enjoy life.
Liberty had no source of income. If forced to leave with nothing, her misery would only deepen.
What Jessica resented most was how, even after Liberty left the company for many years, the old employees still praised her. Jessica was determined to make Liberty’s life as miserable as possible!
