Josh trusted his boss’s instincts. “Does she know?” This time, it was Zachary’s turn to be taken aback. Serenity was unaware that Shawn had been harboring feelings for her. She was kind to him simply because they had known each other for a long time. As she would say, she watched Shawn grow up. You’re clearly jealous; it’s written all over your face. You’re just too stubborn to admit it.’ Josh also understood why Zachary was reluctant to acknowledge his jealousy. After all, Zachary and Serenity had married out of convenience, to repay a favor to his grandmother. He was proud and had high expectations, not easily swayed by emotions. Admitting that he had started to care for Serenity within just a month was difficult for him; his ego stood in the way. His pride and arrogance prevented him from accepting the truth. After leaving the conference room, Zachary did not exit the building immediately but returned to his office instead. His mood lifted slightly after talking with his friend. Deep down, he recognized it was unreasonable to suspect Serenity of cheating simply because she shared a meal with Shawn and offered him food. Nonetheless, he still felt an inexplicable anger.
