chapter 226
Noah continued to hurl curses at Serenity, prompting her to warn him with a fierce expression, “One more word from you and I’ll beat you until your face swells up like a balloon.”
Terrified, Noah instantly fell silent, no longer daring to curse at her. However, he silently cursed her ancestors.
Serenity’s ancestors were also Noah’s ancestors, and they must have been rolling in their graves, eager to welcome the descendant who was cursing them.
He was aware that Serenity had trained in mixed martial arts, but he was unaware of her actual skills.
To think I was worried about her just moments ago.
‘Those punks couldn’t even touch her.’ “Drive,” Zachary commanded in a low voice. “Jim, keep yourself hidden from her.”
Jim had…
He had sent him home twice, so Serenity remembered how he looked. Therefore, he couldn’t allow her to see Jim. The driver resumed driving, and to avoid being recognized, Jim turned his head to look out the opposite side of the road, only turning back once they had passed Serenity. The driver accelerated, causing Zachary’s car to speed by before Serenity could get a clear look. Additionally, she was unfamiliar with the bodyguard vehicles trailing behind.
Shortly after Zachary’s convoy passed, the police arrived. Following a brief interrogation, the officers compassionately picked up the thugs lying on the ground and led them to the patrol car. They had blocked the road and threatened to assault Serenity, but instead, they were the ones who got beaten. Serenity was required to go to the station to give a statement.
Thanks to footage from the dashcam and traffic monitoring, the thugs behaved themselves upon arrival at the station and confessed to everything. Although Serenity was the victim, she had trained in mixed martial arts and knew how to defend herself, so she had not been injured. Consequently, she had only acted in self-defense. After providing her statement, she was free to leave. Meanwhile, Noah and the others were not permitted to leave and were detained.
Even though Noah claimed that he and Serenity were cousins and that it was merely a family dispute, he was still held because Serenity refused to forgive him. Noah thought, ‘I intended to seek revenge on Serenity, but now I find myself in a cell instead.’
