chapter 227
“Yeah.”
“Grandma will run a few laps with you.” Zachary frowned. “Nana, you’re getting older.”
“I’m still as healthy as a horse.”
The two of them left the villa together and jogged along the cement track in the neighborhood. Despite her age, she was in excellent health. When at home, she often worked in the fields alongside the laborers.
She was an elderly woman full of vigor.
The lady, who was down-to-earth, was adored by all the workers at York Manor. “You were living comfortably in Brynfield. Why did you move back?” In truth, Old Mrs. York had come over after hearing there was an issue between her eldest grandson and Serenity, though she was unaware of the specifics. Callum had only mentioned that Zachary had been somewhat distracted lately. She learned from Sam that Zachary had returned to the villa, and she hoped to see sparks fly between the newlyweds, wanting them to become a genuine couple. Thus, she hurried over to see if she could help resolve their conflict.
“I’m more accustomed to living here,” Zachary replied, explaining that he bought this large villa as soon as he became an adult and had lived there ever since. Besides his old residence, this place felt like his second home. He would stay at his other villas only when necessary, but he typically returned to Regent Residences.
“Did you argue with Serenity?” the old lady inquired as she slowed her pace to walk alongside him. Zachary indifferent replied, “I’m a man of class. I won’t bicker with her.” He refused to acknowledge that he had lost his composure that night and had kissed Serenity forcefully. He could hardly believe he had acted so disgracefully. Reflecting on it now, he wished he could slap himself. Where had his upbringing gone? What had happened to his manners? Had his composure been devoured by a dog?
