“We just finished.”
Jasmine quickly tidied up the dishes, and Elisa, curious, asked, “There are four sets of cutlery. Is there someone else here?”
While cleaning, Jasmine replied, “Serenity’s grandmother-in-law came over. She’s in the washroom right now.”
Elisa hummed and stopped her inquiries.
She was aware of Serenity’s marriage; following the trending news, she even advised her brother to fire John Hunt. She understood the conflicts between Serenity and the Hunt family better than most, so it was clear to her that Serenity was married.
Not many outsiders were aware of this fact. Elisa was not one to pry, so she refrained from asking about Serenity’s romantic life.
“Why are you back from vacation so soon, Ms. Stone?”
“I’m worried about my sweetheart, of course. I spent two days with my parents at the beach and returned to the city last night. I have something to share with you, Serenity. This morning, I blocked Mr. York’s car the way you taught me, and I actually succeeded!”
Elisa was eager to share her success with Serenity. Serenity laughed, “Really? Did you two talk? Mr. York helped you, right?”
“Yes and no.”
Elisa’s expression dimmed for a moment before she continued, “I didn’t get to talk to him because he refused to get out of the car, as if he were afraid I’d bite him. My car broke down, and I wanted to ride with him, but he wouldn’t let me in.
“However, he did allow his bodyguards to get out and help move my car to the side so it wouldn’t block the road for others. To be fair, I had broken it down on purpose. So, I guess he helped me in that regard, but not entirely. I used your method, but it was only half a success.”
Elisa quickly brightened up again. “At least Zachary didn’t leave me.”
and my car was there. He instructed his bodyguards to assist in moving my car to the side. “This proves that he actually has a heart. If I keep using this approach, he might eventually allow me into his car,” Elisa reflected wistfully. “I regret not being able to get into his car and speak with him privately.”
Serenity chuckled. “Who says you didn’t have the chance? Didn’t he ask his bodyguards to help you move your car? He did you a favor, so you can use this as an opportunity to approach him, invite him to dinner, or send him some gifts as a thank you.” Elisa’s eyes brightened at Serenity’s suggestion. “You’re absolutely right! Why didn’t I think of that?”
Serenity playfully teased her, “You wanted to reach the finish line all at once, so you overlooked the details.” Elisa took the teasing in stride and replied graciously, “I’ve had a crush on him for years. I struggled with my feelings and tried to let him go, but my feelings for him are too strong to ignore, so I decided to pursue him instead. Loving someone deeply means wanting more from that person.” She was eager to win Zachary over, hoping to get a marriage license with him soon and become his wife.
Meanwhile, Old Mrs. York, who was hiding from Elisa in the washroom, could hear the conversation between Serenity and her. The two girls were unguarded and spoke openly, not lowering their voices. Despite her age, Old Mrs. York’s hearing remained sharp, and she could clearly hear what they were saying. She never expected Serenity to guide Elisa on how to pursue Zachary.
“What an entertaining situation this is! Instead of worrying about my grandson, I find myself delighting in his predicament.” She thought, ‘It’s that little brat’s fault for…’
