chapter 238
Serenity stood up and walked over to her large craft storage box, retrieving a delicate and beautiful container. She placed it in front of Elisa and said, “They’re inside.”
Elisa opened the box and carefully took out the two intricately woven phoenixes, exclaiming, “They’re so lifelike! Serenity, your craftsmanship is incredible. How much do these phoenixes cost? I want to buy them.”
“Since we’re friends, I’ll only charge you for the materials,” Serenity replied.
Elisa placed the phoenixes back in the box and said, “It’s precisely because we’re friends that I don’t want to take advantage of you. I’ll pay whatever they’re worth. I can’t just cover the material costs. I’ve seen the prices of your items online. I don’t recall the exact number, but it seems like these two phoenixes are worth several hundred.”
“In that case, thank you in advance,” Serenity said.
Given Elisa’s insistence, Serenity accepted without hesitation. She didn’t bother with change or counting the money, simply placing the bills into the cashier’s drawer.
“I’m going to deliver the gift to him now, Serenity. I’ll make sure to give you a grand thank you as my advisor once I successfully win over Mr. York,” Elisa declared.
Serenity smiled. “Go ahead! I’ll pray for your swift success. Best of luck!”
After purchasing the two phoenixes at a considerable price, Elisa sent a car filled with seafood to Serenity and left. Giving the phoenixes to Zachary would mean she was…
Elisa wanted him as a partner. “Hehe, what a meaningful gift,” she thought, growing even fonder of Serenity, whom she truly regarded as her love advisor. Old Mrs. York waited until Elisa left before emerging from the washroom.
Jasmine remarked, “Grandma May, Serenity and I were about to break down the door if you hadn’t come out soon.” They were concerned because of Old Mrs. York’s age; they feared she might have fallen inside. It was not uncommon for elderly people to fall in the washroom when no one was around, and it could be too late by the time someone discovered them.
Old Mrs. York smiled and brushed off their concerns. “Nana, are you okay?” Serenity asked, worried that Old Mrs. York might be constipated.
“I’m fine. I just got carried away watching a video and lost track of time,” Old Mrs. York replied. Serenity and Jasmine exchanged speechless glances. “Who was here just now? I thought I heard voices,” Old Mrs. York inquired, appearing curious.
“She’s a new friend I made. She went on vacation to the beach and sent me a lot of seafood when she returned. Nana, please stay for lunch. We’ll prepare a seafood feast for you.” Elisa had given them an abundance of seafood.
Serenity wanted to suggest that Old Mrs. York take some back for her in-laws to enjoy as well. Even though she and Zachary weren’t living together, and she had never visited his family home, she felt it was important to offer good food to her in-laws so they would remember her.
“Of course, I’ll stay even if you didn’t invite me. I often eat alone at home, and even the most delicious food isn’t as enjoyable that way. You can make more; I’ll call Zachary and see if he can come over for lunch.”
Serenity opened her mouth to say something but ended up just humming in agreement.
