**Chapter 4046**
“He is definitely a lively little one. He has strong fetal movements and kicks a lot,” Serenity remarked.
“My baby isn’t as active. I suppose he takes after his father, who is quite reserved and doesn’t enjoy talking to people he doesn’t know well,” Jasmine responded. “There’s nothing wrong with a boy like Zachary. However, Josh was incredibly mischievous as a child. When my mother-in-law shared stories about his embarrassing childhood antics, I could hardly believe he had been so troublesome.”
Josh had always seemed gentle and kind to Jasmine—someone easier to talk to than Zachary. After their marriage, he continued to treat her with great care and affection, constantly showering her with love. He was always there for her, so she never had to worry. He was a reliable partner. Yet, as a child, Josh had been quite the troublemaker. He would climb everything and even go up to the roof to remove tiles if he wasn’t scolded for a few days, giving his parents endless headaches.
“Grandma took my mother-in-law and the others out for fun,” Serenity suddenly said, glancing at her phone. She had just seen a video posted by her mother-in-law on social media, featuring Grandma York along with her second and third aunts.
“Grandma didn’t even tell me she was going out,” Serenity muttered. Then, placing her hand on her belly, she sighed. “I can only go out after this little one is born. Zachary and I didn’t even have a honeymoon. Once the baby arrives, Zachary will have to make it up to me.”
Jasmine and Josh had enjoyed a honeymoon, but toward the end of their trip, Jasmine discovered she was pregnant. Josh had promptly cut their honeymoon short and brought her back home. Nevertheless, they managed to visit many places during their time together.
Elisa smiled and said, “I guess you’ll have to wait until the baby starts kindergarten before you can go on a honeymoon. When they’re this young, relaxation is impossible. Once they begin walking, they’ll cry and cling to you if you try to leave, unless you can ignore their tears.”
Serenity was left speechless.
“Ring, ring, ring…” Serenity’s phone rang; it was Hank calling.
Though she disliked answering Hank’s calls, Serenity picked up anyway. “What do you need?” she asked, her tone indifferent and cold.
“Serenity, I won’t be driving this afternoon. I’ll pick up Sonny from school. Can you let Mr. Lewis know so he doesn’t make a wasted trip? Is Sonny feeling better today?” Hank asked, sounding concerned.
Hank had been worried since he learned Sonny had a fever. Even though he knew the York family had a private doctor and that Serenity was caring for him well, he couldn’t help but fret.
His parents had gone to the kindergarten to check on Sonny but ended up clashing with Duncan. Duncan criticized them for bringing fried chicken for Sonny, while they accused him of using Sonny to impress Liberty rather than genuinely caring for the child.
When his parents returned, they vented to Hank, complaining that Sonny was becoming distant from them. They insisted that, as Sonny’s real grandparents, they deserved to be closer to him and blamed Duncan for fostering this distance.
Ultimately, they nagged Hank to spend more time with Sonny, fearing he would only see Duncan as his stepfather and forget about Hank as his biological dad. After two days of constant pestering, Hank finally agreed to pick Sonny up from school that afternoon.
However, the pick-up card was with Serenity, and he needed her to hand it over and inform Sonny’s teacher that he would be taking him home.
Sonny’s biological father would be the one picking him up.
