Married At First Sight Chapter 4073
Chapter 4073
Abby was unaware that Evan had woken up. She was still outside, absorbed in a phone call with Victoria.
Victoria sounded relieved when she discovered that the person Abby liked was the young master of Wiltspoon’s wealthiest family. As long as he didn’t have a “phoenix man” reputation, she felt at ease.
“Victoria,” Abby inquired, “when are you coming back? It’s been so long since we’ve seen each other. Brother Spencer will be back soon. Are you really not planning to return? Victoria, there’s only a sibling relationship between Brother Spencer and me. Please don’t misunderstand or overthink it. The person my brother likes is you. You should know that by now. You two are the true childhood sweethearts—two kids who didn’t even realize it back then.”
Although Abby had known Spencer and Victoria since childhood, her bond with them wasn’t as strong. She spent most of her time learning skills from her master, only returning to her parents during winter and summer vacations. Once the vacations ended, she would leave again.
She completed her schooling in the city where her master lived, so her connection with Spencer and Victoria was largely maintained through phone calls.
In contrast, Spencer and Victoria shared a deep bond. They grew up together, attended school together, and even took classes from elementary school through college. Their families were close, sharing similar backgrounds. Their mothers were affluent women who had married into prominent families, further solidifying the relationship between the two households.
By all accounts, Spencer and Victoria were an ideal match.
So why had the Chouinard family suddenly chosen to pair Spencer with Abby?
“Abby,” Victoria began, “your brother and I think differently. We argue too much. We’re better
we’re just friends or siblings—not husband and wife. He has never expressed his love for me.
“I do have feelings for him, but I’m exhausted from waiting all these years. His family doesn’t seem to like me much either, possibly because my family’s business isn’t thriving right now.
“Abby, Spencer is a good man—someone you can trust for life. If things don’t work out between you and the young master of the York family, I would be happy if you ended up with Spencer. I’d feel relieved knowing he would take care of you and treat you well. He is genuinely kind.”
Abby picked up on the important detail. Concerned, she asked, “Victoria, is your family’s business struggling? I haven’t heard anything about it.”
Her mother had never mentioned any problems, but perhaps Victoria’s mother had chosen to remain silent to avoid causing worry.
After a brief pause, Victoria responded, “Business has its ups and downs. Sometimes you profit, and sometimes you incur losses. It’s just part of the process. Don’t worry about me, Abby. I’m fine. I have my own job. Even if the company went bankrupt, I could manage. I can take care of myself and my family.”
“Victoria,” Abby said firmly, “we’re like sisters. We’ve been friends for over 20 years, and you’ve always treated me like family. If something’s wrong, you can confide in me. I’m not a little girl anymore; I’ve grown up. I’m not the kid who used to follow you around, crying for hugs.
“What’s really going on with your company? Please tell me—maybe I can help. If things aren’t working out abroad, consider coming back. No matter how great it is out there, it will never feel as comfortable as home. You could start fresh here.”
Victoria chuckled softly. “I’m not planning to come back anytime soon. I’ll return once Spencer is back. He thinks I’m still hung up on him and keeps pursuing me. But
He hasn’t said anything, and if he doesn’t want to, I won’t pressure him. Perhaps I’ve been deceiving myself all these years.
