Married At First Sight Novel
Chapter 4085
“Alright,” Spencer responded warmly. “I’ll send you my location now. We can catch up when you arrive.”
He ended the call and promptly sent Abby his location.
Abby and Evan followed the directions and spent over ten minutes navigating the busy airport before finally spotting Spencer.
“Brother Spencer!” Abby exclaimed excitedly, her face lighting up as she rushed toward him.
Evan, a few steps behind, observed the man Abby was so eager to see. Spencer appeared to be around his age, perhaps a year or two older. He radiated an air of sophistication, dressed in a tailored gray suit without a tie, which gave him the look of a polished, successful professional.
From what Abby had shared, Evan already knew that his rival was a senior executive at a prominent multinational corporation. With Spencer now overseeing domestic operations in Huyoniville, it was evident that he excelled in both business and leadership.
Additionally, Spencer’s mother and Mrs. Du were lifelong friends, and Spencer had been Mrs. Du’s godson for many years. Abby had known him since childhood, and their families had always hoped to unite them through marriage.
Seeing Spencer in person only intensified Evan’s unease. The man seemed to possess everything—a stellar career, strong ties to the Du family, and a long-standing connection with Abby.
Evan felt the heavy burden of competition settle on his shoulders. If he wanted to win Abby’s love, he needed to focus on strengthening her feelings for him. That was his only advantage. If Abby’s heart truly belonged to him, then Spencer, no matter how accomplished, would stand no chance.
Otherwise, Evan feared he wouldn’t measure up to Spencer in most aspects, aside from his family background.
Determined not to

feeling of jealousy that stirred within him as he watched Spencer smile at Abby with clear affection.

“You’ve become even more beautiful since the last time I saw you,” Spencer remarked, his tone warm and sincere. “If you hadn’t called me earlier, I might not have recognized you at all.”

Abby laughed and playfully rolled her eyes at his compliment. To Spencer, Abby would always be the little girl who used to follow him and Victoria everywhere, desperate to join in on their adventures. She was several years younger, and whenever they went out to play, she would cry until someone allowed her to tag along.

At times, her presence had been more of a burden than a blessing. Spencer often tried to leave her behind, not wanting the responsibility of babysitting, but Abby’s tears would always persuade the adults. Victoria, who had a soft spot for Abby, was more understanding and would include her without hesitation.

As the years passed, life took Spencer and Victoria abroad. Their families focused on international business, leading to less frequent interactions with Abby. During this time, Spencer’s annoyance transformed into a protective affection. He began to cherish Abby as his “little sister,” sending her gifts and calling her regularly.

Now, seeing her all grown up, Spencer was amazed by her transformation. The once clingy child had blossomed into a confident and accomplished woman. He had heard from their families that Abby had become the vice president of the Du Group, and in this moment, he couldn’t help but admire her growth. Yet, he still couldn’t shake the underlying sense of jealousy.

nudging from his family. Recently, his mother had been dropping hints, reminding him that it was time for him to settle down. Mrs. Du and his mother, who had been best friends for decades, both hoped that the Chouinard and Du families could strengthen their bond through marriage. Spencer also recognized the underlying motivations. While his family’s business was still thriving, it had begun to decline in recent years. The decision to refocus on Huyoniville was not merely sentimental; it was strategic. Huyoniville was their hometown, and rebuilding their foundation there represented their best chance for revival. However, without the Du Group’s support, it would be a challenging endeavor. The Du Group had dominated the local business scene in Huyoniville, reigning like an undisputed king. If the two families were united by marriage, the Du Group would likely extend its resources to ensure the Chouinard family’s success. For Spencer, this situation was not solely about business—it was personal. He couldn’t deny Abby was extraordinary, but he also understood that there was more at stake than just his emotions.
