Married At First Sight Novel
Chapter 4087
“Brother Spencer, it’s time for dinner. Let’s grab a bite to eat before we head back. It’ll take another hour or two to get back to the city, and traffic is always terrible on weekends. If we return without eating, you’ll likely be starving by the time we arrive.”
Abby’s stomach growled, reminding her that she was hungry as well.
Spencer smiled and replied, “Okay, you can choose the place.”
Abby walked ahead while Spencer nudged his suitcase toward Evan. “Mr. York, could you please assist me with my suitcase?”
Without waiting for a response, Spencer grabbed a small bag—likely his laptop case—and quickly caught up with Abby.
Evan resisted the urge to kick Spencer’s suitcase aside. However, in an attempt to impress Abby, he held back.
Abby’s attitude toward Spencer was entirely platonic—sibling-like affection without any romantic undertones. Her eyes reflected the calmness of a deep friendship, which provided Evan with a sense of relief.
Although Spencer and Abby displayed affectionate behavior, Evan recognized that their bond resembled the connection of old friends reuniting after a long separation.
As Spencer caught up with Abby, she glanced back and noticed Evan pulling his suitcase.
“Brother Spencer, do you have a lot of luggage?”
“Not really, just some daily essentials. The suitcase isn’t heavy. Let Evan help me with it,” Spencer said.
He waited for Evan to catch up before asking Abby, “So, is it him?”
Abby nodded without hesitation. “It’s him.”
“Not bad. You have good taste,” Spencer remarked, setting aside his personal feelings. He had to admit that Evan and Abby made a great pair.
“But Wiltspoon is so far from Huyoniville. Being with him means marriage at a distance. It takes a lot of courage for a woman to make that kind of move. You’d have to leave behind…
“Everything feels familiar, yet you are stepping into a completely new environment.”
“And your career, family, and friends are all in Huyoniville.”
“You should carefully consider marrying someone so far away. My company has collaborated with the York Corporation in Wiltspoon, so I know a bit about the York family. Honestly, you two seem like a perfect match—he’s successful, and you’re beautiful.”
“However, I still believe you should think twice. There are many wonderful people in Huyoniville who truly know you. If your in-laws ever mistreat you, your family will be close enough to offer support.”
“If you marry far away and something goes wrong, your family may not even be aware. They would have to travel halfway around the world just to help.”
Spencer paused and quickly glanced back at Evan, who was now catching up. Seizing the opportunity, he said, “Abby, my mother and godmother want us to be together. You should consider it. We’ve known each other since childhood, and our families have always been close. My family’s business is relocating back to Huyoniville, and I will be here too, so it makes perfect sense.”
Abby smiled gently and shook her head. “Brother Spencer, if we were together, we wouldn’t be happy. Moreover, it would put a strain on our families’ relationships. We would grow resentful, and it would ultimately harm the bond between them.”
“For the sake of our families, and to avoid any regrets, it’s impossible for us to be together. I am someone who is deeply loyal in love. If I’m not moved, that’s fine. But once I am, I will be committed for life. Brother Spencer, take a moment to reflect on what’s in your heart. Is it truly for me? Or are you willing to sacrifice true love for your future?”
Spencer paused, taken aback by her words. Then, with a self-deprecating laugh, he muttered, “Have you spoken to your sister Victoria?”
“I’m feeling quite confused. I returned to clear my head, and now this… I have no idea what I’m doing.”
