Married At First Sight Chapter 4090
Chapter 4090
Noticing how Abby consistently defended Evan, Spencer decided to remain silent. As they ate, the three of them engaged in conversation—mostly between Spencer and Abby—while Evan struggled to get a word in. Abby occasionally directed a comment toward Evan, but her primary focus remained on Spencer.
Suddenly, Abby’s phone rang. She pulled it out and glanced at the caller ID. “It’s Victoria,” she informed Spencer. “She’s probably calling to check if you’ve made it.”
The smile on Spencer’s face dimmed slightly. “I posted on Moments as soon as I landed. She should already know I arrived safely.”
Abby shot Spencer an annoyed look before answering the call. “Victoria, I just heard from Brother Spencer. He’s arrived safely.”
From the outset, Abby reassured Victoria about Spencer’s safe arrival.
Victoria’s voice came through calm but tinged with unspoken emotions. “Oh, I wasn’t calling about that. I just thought you’d have some free time this weekend, so I figured I’d call and chat.”
Despite her denial, Victoria’s concern for Spencer was evident. She had seen Spencer’s Moments post but chose not to comment or like it. Instead, she scrolled past, pretending it didn’t affect her. Yet, here she was, unable to resist reaching out to Abby to check on him.
Inside, Victoria felt frustrated with herself. She had promised to move on from Spencer, but as soon as he left, she began to miss him terribly. The desire to see him again gnawed at her.
Nonetheless, she reminded herself of the reality: Spencer hadn’t even informed her of his return. He hadn’t asked her to see him off at the airport, and his only communication was a public post. That thought stung, causing her heart to ache once more.
Victoria’s family wasn’t supportive of her relationship.

They were concerned that Victoria and her family’s struggles would only burden Spencer. It wasn’t until her aunt confronted her that Victoria learned how much her father had borrowed from Spencer. Her father had kept her unaware, taking out significant loans from Spencer in an attempt to save the family business. Victoria had done everything she could to support her family, even depleting her savings. She had thought their financial troubles were behind them, but the reality was that her father’s business was still struggling, debts had accumulated, and bankruptcy was imminent.

This realization was devastating. She understood that her family’s situation would only drag Spencer down, and she couldn’t let that happen. Spencer had never explicitly professed his love for her. To the outside world, they were childhood sweethearts with a deep bond, but perhaps he viewed her merely as a close friend, akin to a sibling.

Accepting this was painful, but Victoria had come to terms with it. She even started to believe that Spencer might be happier with someone else—like Abby.

Abby brought her focus back to the present. “Brother Spencer and I are grabbing dinner at the airport restaurant. It’ll take another hour or two to get back to the city, so we thought we’d eat first. I’ll call you once I’m home. Do you want to say anything to Brother Spencer?”

Victoria’s voice was steady but firm. “I called to talk to you, not him. I have nothing to say.” Her words were sharp, but the truth was much more complicated.

“Alright, we’ll finish eating, and I’ll call you later,” Abby replied.

“Okay.” Victoria quickly hung up, ending the call before she could reveal too much.
