Married At First Sight Chapter 4128
Chapter 4128
If they wanted to invest in a business, a million dollars wouldn’t go far. Even purchasing a decent car would cost hundreds of thousands. Moreover, if they simply deposited it in a bank, the interest rates were steadily declining. A typical savings account would barely generate $10,000 to $20,000 a year—if that. Thus, to them, a million per person wasn’t substantial. It was nowhere near enough to satisfy their cravings.
After all, the Janzen brothers weren’t requesting something trivial—they were asking them to break the law and harm someone. If caught and investigated, they would face serious consequences, potentially serving years in prison.
Losing their freedom for a million dollars? It simply wasn’t worth it.
Marco interjected, “Mr. Janzen, while we may dislike Kathryn, we live in the countryside, far from Jensburg and away from her. As long as we don’t provoke her, she won’t bother us. Our lives remain peaceful. The economy may not be thriving, but at least we have food on the table, a roof over our heads, and most importantly, our freedom.
“You are the ones desperate to eliminate her. If Kathryn remains in power, your interests will suffer the most. That’s why you’re willing to pay us. But consider this—if you simply accepted your fate, resigned, sold your assets, and left Jensburg, you could live just as comfortably as we do. You wouldn’t need to worry about Kathryn coming after you, nor would you have to pay us or get your hands dirty.”
The offer had to justify the risk.
Shiloh’s eldest brother was open to negotiation, but if the payout was less than three million each, he wasn’t interested.
He recognized who stood to lose the most if Kathryn remained in power.
Yes, they hated Kathryn, and she loathed them in return, but she wasn’t intent on killing them.
Deep down, they wished she would simply vanish, but taking action themselves was an entirely different matter. The Janzen brothers were feeling the pressure. If they couldn’t agree on a fair price, Marco and his brothers could walk away and continue to make a living the hard way. They still had a few acres of farmland, and as long as they were willing to work, they wouldn’t starve. There was no reason to take a significant risk for just a million.
Sage broke the silence. “Brother, we haven’t eaten yet. Let’s grab a meal and discuss this while we eat.” He then turned to Shiloh’s brothers. “Look, we all want the same thing. Let’s take our time discussing the payment, but first, let’s eat.”
Marco nodded in agreement. “Yeah, let’s eat.” He stood up, and his younger brothers followed suit. Shiloh’s two brothers didn’t decline. They had traveled from their hometown early that morning, changing vehicles multiple times to arrive. It had taken hours, and they hadn’t had a chance to eat. By now, their stomachs were growling, and they needed food to think clearly.
The five of them entered the restaurant. Given the sensitivity of their discussion, they didn’t invite the nanny to join them. She had already prepared lunch, so they helped themselves to the food. Soon, they were seated at the table, and since everyone was starving, they ate in silence for the first ten minutes. Once they were about seventy percent full, Marco finally spoke up.
“If two million isn’t enough, we’ll raise the offer. Three million each—five million total. That’s two and a half million per person. That’s a lot of money. Most people won’t earn that in a lifetime. And for you, it’s pure profit—you won’t owe anyone a cent.”
