Married At First Sight Chapter 4138
Chapter 4138
In the past, the team working under Marco was exceptionally talented, largely due to Clarissa’s efforts in recruiting top professionals to support him. Any success he experienced was primarily a result of their hard work. It felt as though they did all the labor while Marco took all the credit.
Marco remained silent.
Was he truly that incompetent?
He had always believed he was performing well.
When his mother was alive, he never had to do any heavy lifting. He merely issued instructions, and the skilled team beneath him created flawless plans that met all expectations.
His role was to sit back and wait for the accolades.
After years of this, he genuinely thought he was capable.
Although he knew Shiloh wasn’t his biological sister while Kathryn was, he had still looked down on Kathryn. She had grown up in the countryside, appeared timid, and seemed practically useless in the company.
To him, she resembled a lump of clay that couldn’t be molded into anything valuable.
Marco began to dream big. He aspired to take Kathryn’s position as the successor of the Farrell family.
He even went as far as to tell their mother that he should be the first male heir to lead the family, even offering to change his last name to Farrell.
However, no matter how much their mother loved her sons, the Farrell legacy was always her primary concern.
She had altered many family rules, but one principle remained unchanged: only daughters could inherit.
This was one boundary she refused to budge on.
“Kathryn, I genuinely put effort into this plan,” Marco asserted. “Is it really that bad? I believe I did a good job.”
Kathryn did not hold back. “That’s your opinion. But what you think doesn’t matter. What truly matters is whether I find it satisfactory, and…
“More importantly, what does Liberty think about it?” Marco’s expression darkened once again. After a lengthy pause, he flipped through the folder once more and reluctantly asked, “How should I revise it? How can I improve it? Please teach me.”
Kathryn let out a short laugh. “Oh? Now you want my help? Should I also take a cut from your paycheck? My time is far more valuable than yours. I have a client meeting later, and if it goes well, it will bring significant profits to the Farrell Group. I don’t have the time to clean up your mess. I’m not your mother.”
Marco clenched his jaw. “Where is this meeting? Can I come along? Maybe I’ll learn something.”
“I’m meeting them at the Fortress Hotel at 4:30,” Kathryn replied. “After the business discussion, we’ll have dinner.”
Then, with a smirk, she added, “But do you really need me to show you the ropes? You’ve attended more events than I’ve had meals. I wouldn’t dare act like a boss in front of you.”
Marco felt a rush of embarrassment flood his face.
Kathryn took another sip of her coffee, then softened her tone. “Brother, go back and work on the plan. Take your time and get it right. If you hit a snag, ask your team for help. They’re all experienced professionals.”
Even if their loyalties shifted depending on circumstances, the individuals in Marco’s department had earned their positions through skill and hard work, not by pulling strings.
