Tatum recognized that she was making this statement intentionally, fearing he might not agree. But how could he refuse? This was precisely what he desired.
“Alright, Miss. I’d be delighted to share meals with you from now on.”
“Now, go ahead and eat first. I’ll prepare the fruit shortly.”
Elora glanced at him but remained silent as she left the room.
In the past, unless there was a special occasion, she would head straight back to the lounge to rest after dinner and rarely paid attention to having fruit afterward.
However, Tatum had unknowingly altered some of her small habits.
These little changes provided her with extra rest and improved her well-being.
Soon, Tatum returned with the prepared fruit.
He had sliced the fruit and arranged the pieces to resemble a phoenix with its wings elegantly spread, using smaller, uncut fruits as decorative accents.
“In such a short time, you actually created a phoenix?”
Elora couldn’t help but admire his talent.
Tatum smiled. “It’s quite simple.”
“I almost don’t want to eat it—it looks too beautiful.”
“Don’t hesitate. I can create plenty of designs. If the plate is large enough, I could even craft an entire landscape painting.”
“When you have time, I’ll provide you with a big plate and let you make one for me,” Elora responded with enthusiasm.
Tatum chuckled. “If you’d like, I can actually paint a landscape for you. My skills are quite good.”
“Really? Then you should paint a few for me when you’re free. I adore landscape paintings. I used to paint as well. Before I took over the family business, I painted in my spare time. But since taking on those responsibilities, I’ve been so busy that I haven’t…
“…touched a brush in years.”
“But I’m not great at landscapes. My specialty lies in painting flowers.”
“And portraits. I particularly enjoy painting ancient beauties.”
Tatum picked up another pair of chopsticks and assisted her with the food.
Elora was accustomed to eating alone. Occasionally, Tinsley would join her, and when she did, Tatum would always prepare two sets of bowls and chopsticks.
Tonight, however, Tinsley was absent, leaving just the two of them.
“You excel at what I struggle with,” Tatum remarked with a smile. “I can’t capture ancient beauties well, but I’m quite skilled at painting modern ones.”
Their family was filled with handsome men and beautiful women.
Having grown up among them, Tatum found ample inspiration. With his talent, creating lifelike portraits was effortless.
He reminisced about his early painting days, when he practiced by sketching his mother. Back then, she was still young, beautiful, and exuded the grace of a true lady of the house.
As the youngest son—several years younger than his eldest brother—he had always been deeply cherished by his parents.
Whenever he wanted to paint, his mother gladly posed as his model for hours.
His eldest brother, however, was more skilled at painting animals—dragons and eagles were his favorites.
But his brother painted infrequently.
Now, he painted even less. Tatum thought the only chance he’d have to see his eldest brother pick up a brush again would be after retirement.
Speaking of which… wasn’t his sister-in-law about to give birth?
“What are you thinking about?” Elora suddenly asked, pulling him from his reverie.
She had noticed he seemed lost in thought.
As the head of the Ormond family, her keen eyes observed everything.
“I was thinking about my brother and sister-in-law,” Tatum replied.
“I’ve been informed that she is expected to give birth soon. Once my nephew arrives, Miss, I would like to take a few days off to return home. He will be the first nephew— the first child of the next generation in our York family.” Tatum was on the verge of becoming an uncle, and he knew he had to be there.
