Duncan held Liberty’s hand reassuringly. “Don’t worry about her. Mr. Fraser is watching over her—he won’t let anything happen to her. You must be exhausted after such a long day.” He gently patted her shoulder. “Lean on me.”
Liberty smiled and rested her head on his shoulder. Instantly, his strong arm wrapped around her.

“I feel so fortunate to have you. I finally have someone to depend on.”
For a long time, Liberty had been the source of strength for her sister and son. Now, she had someone to lean on as well.
Duncan’s voice was warm. “It’s even better having you. You’re my rock—my source of strength. I thank God every day for bringing us together.”
They had met, grown close, fallen in love, and were now building a life together.
Liberty looked up at him. “Do you still remember the first time we met?”
Duncan smiled. “How could I forget? You were pushing a stroller with Sonny inside, and you accidentally bumped into my car. My brand-new car—damaged on the very first day! Then Zachary called to inform me that the person who hit my car was his wife’s sister. For his sake, I only charged you a small fee for the repairs.”
His car had been insured, and the damages were covered. Nevertheless, having his new vehicle scratched had annoyed him. Since Liberty insisted on paying, he allowed it.

Serenity had provided her with $5,000 a month, but Liberty told Hank it was only $2,000, fearing he would use that information to cut her off entirely.
