Married At First Sight Chapter 4167
Chapter 4167
“Miss.”
The bodyguard turned to Kathryn, awaiting her decision.
Kathryn opened her eyes, her expression composed. “Stop the car, but don’t exit. Wait for them to make the first move. Only step out if absolutely necessary. And remember—protect yourselves.”
“Miss…”
“I’ll be fine. Don’t worry. I value my life. I still have a long journey ahead, and my best days are yet to come. How could I possibly consider dying now?”
She offered a faint smile, though it didn’t reach her eyes.
There was a deep sadness hidden within them.
She never envisioned it would come to this—a fight for survival against her own brother.
Her family bonds had always been tenuous.
Swapped at birth, she was raised by strangers who cared little for her. She never had enough to eat, never dressed well, and never experienced warmth.
When she finally returned to her biological family, she had hoped for love. But they had disappointed her as well.
Despite having many relatives, she had always felt isolated.
The only individuals who truly cared for her were Pedro and Liberty.
The bodyguards understood that Kathryn had been preparing for this moment.
They silently obeyed her instructions.
“As soon as the truck behind us catches up, we’ll exit immediately,” one of them stated. They recognized the danger—they couldn’t afford to be trapped between two trucks. Such a scenario would make survival nearly impossible.
Kathryn didn’t want anyone to die.
She had already resigned herself to being the only one injured tonight.
The truck ahead remained stationary, its driver feigning a mechanical issue.
Kathryn’s car had come to a halt, but Marco and his men didn’t move yet. They were waiting for their backup—the truck that had been following them. If they attacked too soon, Kathryn would be in danger.
They might still be able to escape. Minutes later, headlights appeared in the distance as the truck drew closer. Kathryn was the first to exit her vehicle, followed by her bodyguards and driver. Without hesitation, they sprinted across the emergency lane, jumped over the guardrail, and began to move forward. The truck behind them noticed Kathryn and her team leaving the vehicle and immediately slammed on the brakes. But it was too late. The force of inertia caused the truck to crash into the bodyguards’ car, which lurched forward and slammed into Kathryn’s vehicle. The impact propelled Kathryn’s car into the stationary truck ahead, creating a series of deafening crashes that echoed through the night. Fortunately, Kathryn and her team had managed to exit in time; otherwise, they would have been crushed inside.
Marco and his men stepped out of their vehicles. Aside from their headlights, the road was engulfed in darkness, with no houses, businesses, or signs of life nearby. It was the perfect spot for an ambush. “Do it.” Marco wasted no time with threats; his men sprang into action. Despite the late hour, there was always a possibility of someone driving by, so they needed to act quickly. Their objective was straightforward—capture Kathryn. Once they had her, they would vanish, leaving the road clear and raising no suspicions.
The night was eerily silent, the only sounds being the sporadic grunts and thuds of fists connecting. Kathryn’s bodyguards fought valiantly, but there were only four of them. The two drivers lacked combat skills and were taken down within seconds. Marco had brought a large crew, overpowering them with sheer numbers. Although Kathryn was not trained to fight, she refused to go down without a struggle. Driven by sheer determination, she managed to injure several of her attackers before they finally overwhelmed her.
Surrounded by several men, she had no chance. As they closed in, she was knocked to the ground. She had lost.
