Chapter 4178
“I’m heading to the hospital right now.”
The moment Liberty learned that Kathryn had been rescued and taken to the emergency room, sleep was no longer an option. She quickly threw off the covers and got out of bed.
Duncan promptly followed her.
“Darling, it’s still dark outside, and the spring nights in Jensburg can be freezing. You should rest a bit longer,” Liberty said, concerned about her husband’s limited mobility and how the cold could affect him.
She felt capable of handling this on her own.
However, Duncan was already dressing. “No, I’m coming with you. I may not be able to walk far, but I can manage. I’ll call the bodyguards so you won’t have to worry about me.”
Although Kathryn had willingly put herself in danger, Duncan was not comfortable letting Liberty go to the hospital alone.
He knew that Marco and the others had contemplated targeting Liberty as well. The only thing that deterred them was the overwhelming number of powerful individuals protecting her. They understood that if anything were to happen to her, they would face dire consequences. Even worse, their own children would be affected.
Ultimately, they had decided to go after Kathryn instead.
Despite being their biological sister, they harbored resentment towards her. If she died, as her closest relatives, they would inherit everything she owned.
Kathryn had inherited a vast fortune from their mother.
People would do anything for money—even kill.
Liberty didn’t argue any further.
Soon, she and Duncan made their way out.
Jim and the other bodyguards were already waiting at the door.
As soon as they saw the couple step outside, Jim advanced toward them.
“Jim, take us to the hospital,” Liberty directed.
“Yes, ma’am,” Jim replied respectfully.
Without delay, they rushed to the hospital.

When Liberty and Duncan arrived, Kathryn had already been moved from the emergency room. Although her injuries were not life-threatening, she had curled up to shield her head during the attack, which meant that despite Noel’s beating and kicking, the damage was not critical. Her body was covered in bruises, but nothing fatal. However, she did have a deep gash on her right arm from a kitchen knife. After addressing the bleeding, the doctors prescribed several days of IV treatment to prevent infection. Additionally, she had developed a fever; too much time exposed to the cold sea breeze had seeped into her bones.
In the hospital room, Pedro carefully folded a wet towel and placed it on Kathryn’s forehead. Although she had taken fever medication, her temperature had not yet decreased. Her face was swollen and bruised from the beating, and she lay there in a dazed state, barely conscious. Pedro sat beside her, gently pressing an ice pack against her battered face.
Suddenly, there was a knock at the door. Pedro had just finished changing Kathryn’s towel. Holding the damp cloth in his hand, he walked over and opened the door.
“How is Kathryn?” Liberty and Duncan asked, standing outside. They had rushed here without hesitation.
Pedro stepped aside to let them in, his usually composed expression now filled with concern. His voice was low and heavy with emotion as he responded, “She’s out of danger, but her body is covered in bruises. She was beaten badly. Her face is swollen, her nose is bruised, and she has a deep knife wound on her right arm. She spent too much time in the cold, and now she has a fever. She took medicine, but it hasn’t gone down yet.”
Liberty did not wait for him to finish; she walked straight into the room and sat beside Kathryn’s bed. Even in her sleep, Kathryn appeared uneasy, her body restless, as if she were

Liberty’s heart was heavy with sorrow.
Kathryn had always been resolute, her actions straightforward. Although she had never felt a deep affection for
her three brothers, they were still part of her family.
Even though she was aware of their desire to see her dead, she devised a trap to eliminate them—perhaps as a final act of gratitude for the little maternal love she had experienced in her later years.
