Married At First Sight Chapter 4187
Chapter 4187
“Mr. Janzen, I am under no obligation to support you.” Pedro had no intention of sending Holden any money. He suspected that Holden’s call was more of a test than a genuine request for financial assistance.
Holden snapped, “Aren’t you going to marry my daughter? That makes you my son-in-law, and a son-in-law is like a half-son. A son should take care of his father. Transfer some money to me right now, or I won’t allow my daughter to marry you.”
Pedro replied bluntly, “Kathryn’s marriage is her decision. Even if I marry her, she will manage the finances, not me. I don’t have any money.”
Holden scoffed. “Mr. Fraser! Are you even a man? Can’t you restore the prestige of the Farrell family’s son-in-law? Look at my situation—I’ve been financially controlled ever since I got married. You’re headed down the same path. Let me warn you, the women in the Farrell family are trouble. You should think twice about marrying Kathryn; she’s even worse than her mother.”
Pedro’s tone turned cold. “Mr. Janzen, my relationship with Kathryn is none of your business. You should focus on your own issues. If that’s all, I’m hanging up.”
“Tell Kathryn to call me when she wakes up!” Holden demanded. “I’ve had a miserable life, and now I have an ungrateful daughter who doesn’t even recognize me as her father!”
Pedro didn’t hold back. “Mr. Janzen, you have never fulfilled your responsibilities as a parent. You don’t care about your daughter, yet you expect her to take care of you. How does that make sense? Furthermore, the family will clearly states that your three sons are responsible for your care. If Kathryn chooses to give you money, that’s her decision. If she doesn’t, she is not obligated to.”
“To hell with the will! Legally, Kathryn is
“You’re obligated to support me. If you refuse, I’ll sue you for neglecting your father. Just wait and see!”
Pedro remained unfazed. “Go ahead and sue if you want.”
Holden sneered, “Don’t be so arrogant, Mr. Fraser. I won’t allow you to marry Kathryn. You’ll end up like Mr. Dunn—spending your life as a lapdog at Clarissa’s feet. Assistants like you are nothing but lackeys.”
Pedro hung up, his heart aching for Kathryn. She often said she had no real family ties, and it was true—her relatives treated her ruthlessly.
In the future, Pedro vowed to make up for it. He would love Kathryn twice as much. They would have two children, build a happy family together, and leave Mr. Janzen in the past.
After hanging up, Pedro turned to see Kathryn waking up.
“That was my dad on the phone, wasn’t it?” she asked. “What did he say to make you so angry that you hung up on him?”
Pedro set the phone down and sat beside her. “Miss, you’re awake.”
Kathryn nodded. “I woke up when the phone rang. I didn’t want to talk to him, so I pretended to be asleep and let you handle it. He must have called to test the waters.” She knew her father was aware of her brothers’ failed plot against her.
“Miss,” Pedro said softly, brushing a strand of hair from her face, “Don’t let him get to you. He’s never treated you well.”
Holden was the most heartless father Pedro had ever encountered.
Pedro had lost his own parents when he was too young to remember them. He never felt the pain of their absence, but he had witnessed true parental love in others. Most parents cared deeply for their children.
Kathryn was simply unlucky to have one who didn’t.
