Married At First Sight Chapter 4220
Chapter 4220
“Sonny is doing well, but it seems he has distanced himself from the Brown family again,”
Serenity mentioned. “He still answers Hank’s calls, but when his grandparents visit, he appears annoyed and is reluctant to engage. He doesn’t even answer their calls.”
It seems Hank’s mother and sister have been speaking negatively about Liberty and Duncan in front of Sonny again, which is driving him away.
During the New Year, Sonny had begun to warm up to the Brown family, but who would have thought those two would spoil it again?
Sonny wasn’t particularly close to Hank either.
He had confided in Serenity that he believed his father wasn’t as strong as Uncle Duncan.
He likely meant that Hank had never effectively managed his family, lacked assertiveness, and often allowed his emotions to cloud his judgment.
It wasn’t that Duncan didn’t care about his family—he did. However, he adhered to his principles and refused to let family influence his decisions.
In comparison, Hank appeared weak.
“People rarely change,” Liberty remarked. “I had a long conversation with Hank. His mother and sister are his family—what can he do?”
When she and Hank were still married, he never knew how to mediate conflicts.
Instead, he would side with his family, insisting they had a tough life and urging her to be more understanding.
When his parents were hospitalized, he claimed he was too busy with work and expected her to care for them instead. In short, Hank had always shifted his responsibilities onto her.
He had changed a bit after everything that happened, but fundamentally, he remained the same. That wasn’t something that could be completely transformed.
“Seren, does Aunt Audrey know about Kathryn’s injury?” Liberty inquired.
“Yes, I informed her.”
Liberty ensured that Serenity remained informed about everything occurring in Jensburg. Even if she hadn’t, Jim would have kept her in the loop. Jim was loyal to Zachary, and if Serenity sought information, he would readily provide it.
“What did Aunt Audrey say?” Liberty inquired.
She paused for a moment before responding, saying that Kathryn is a strong person and encouraged Serenity to visit her more frequently. Additionally, Aunt Audrey expressed her desire to attend Kathryn’s wedding to Mr. Fraser.
“I visit Kathryn every day and have been seeking her advice on many matters.” Although Kathryn had not officially assumed the role of head of the Farrell family, she had been learning from Clarissa for the past three years and was already beginning to transition into the position.
“Kathryn mentioned she might settle in Wiltspoon after the transition, as she dislikes harsh winters.”
Serenity had her reservations. Despite Kathryn’s reasonable demeanor, she was still Clarissa’s daughter, and her mother’s death had created an insurmountable divide between Kathryn and the rest of the family.
While Kathryn was logical, Serenity had her own priorities to consider. Being pregnant left her with little energy to manage her own affairs, let alone take on anyone else’s. Some matters simply weren’t her responsibility.
