Elisa replied, “Let’s reschedule the meeting for tomorrow. I need to go to the hospital. Jasmine just had a baby—a boy weighing 6.32 pounds. Both mother and child are doing well.”
The secretary smiled. “I’ll call her to congratulate her.” She had no plans to join Elisa; as the boss, Elisa would visit Jasmine on her own time unless invited.
Elisa left, filled with excitement.
A Maybach was parked outside, and Remy, noticing her, rolled down the window and waved.
Elisa approached with a bright smile. “Why didn’t you come inside?”
Remy exited the car. “I just arrived and saw you coming out, so I waited. Where are you headed?”
“Jasmine had her baby! I’m going to the hospital to see her and the little one. You arrived at the perfect time—let’s go together. But first, we should pick up some gifts.”
Remy promptly opened the car door for her. As he got in, he asked, “Wasn’t Jasmine’s due date still a month away? Why did she deliver early?”
While Remy didn’t usually track other women’s pregnancies, he remembered because Elisa mentioned it frequently.
“She went into labor early. Serenity happened to be at the hospital for a checkup and discovered it. Thankfully, both mother and baby are fine. The baby was placed in an incubator for observation but is now doing well and with Jasmine.”
Elisa smiled. “That’s wonderful news! I have to see them.”
As Remy drove, he reflected, “It’s odd. Josh loves posting about his wife online and shares their daily life constantly, yet now that he’s a dad, he hasn’t posted anything.”
Elisa hadn’t added Josh on social media—he was her friend’s husband, after all. She only had his contact for business purposes.
“Maybe he’s just too busy to post,” she speculated.
What she didn’t realize was that Josh had been so overwhelmed during the birth that he fainted from nerves. Posting on social media was the furthest thing from his mind. His focus was entirely on his wife. He hardly looked at their newborn before quickly returning to her side.
