Married At First Sight Chapter 4242
Chapter 4242
Evan found himself overwhelmed, juggling both business responsibilities and the ongoing challenges in his pursuit of Abby, which was driving him to the brink of insanity.
Fortunately, the house he purchased in Huyoniville was finally his.
While it wasn’t located right next to the Du family estate, it was still quite close—only one or two kilometers away.
Just a short drive.
At that moment, Evan sat in his car, with a bouquet of flowers and a large red brocade box containing a jewelry set for Abby resting in the passenger seat. The back seat was cluttered with luxury skincare products, cosmetics, designer bags, and clothing—all intended for Abby.
However, he couldn’t even get inside; all he could do was wait at the entrance of the company.
Just ten minutes earlier, his biggest rival, Spencer, had driven directly into the Du Group building.
Although Spencer was dressed in business attire and accompanied by his secretary, claiming he was there for discussions, Evan wasn’t convinced.
He had persuaded his eldest brother to invest more in Huyoniville, establish a subsidiary, and appoint him as its head. He also aimed to engage in business talks with Du Group.
So why was he being denied entry?
It wasn’t Abby who was blocking him—it was Adalee. She was now in charge of Du Group, and she wasn’t making things easy for him.
Frustrated, Evan pulled out his phone and called Abby.
It took a moment for her to answer.
“Abby, when are you finishing work? I bought tickets to the most popular movie for the Spring Festival. Let’s go together.”
“Not for a while. Didn’t I tell you? I have to work late tonight. Are you still waiting outside?”
“The temperature is going to drop sharply tonight. It’s expected to be the coldest stretch since New Year. Don’t wait around—you’ll catch a cold again. Go home and rest.”
As she spoke, Abby approached the window to look outside.
Her office was located in a high-rise building, too far up to see Evan’s car. Without a telescope, she couldn’t identify which vehicle belonged to him. Many cars were parked outside—some for visitors and others for employees. Since parking was limited, individuals who couldn’t find a spot in the lot had to use the open space nearby. As long as they didn’t block the main driveway, it was acceptable.
Evan, anticipating a long wait, had parked strategically to avoid any issues. If security alerted the higher-ups to complain, Abby might actually have his car towed. He couldn’t even be angry about it. After all, he had been oblivious to his own feelings for Abby for a long time, inadvertently hurting her in the process. Now, the Du family was complicating matters for him, creating obstacles at every turn.
At least, following the chili pepper incident, they weren’t punishing him too severely. Everything they did remained within the bounds of what he could tolerate. His grandmother had once mentioned wanting to see him suffer while pursuing his love. Well, she had finally gotten her wish.
Evan was so exasperated with his grandmother that he felt he could cough up blood. But she was completely oblivious to his struggles. She had moved into FC Manor with her three daughters-in-law and was enjoying herself to the fullest. She didn’t even seem to remember she had a grandson.
