Married At First Sight Chapter 4243
Chapter 4243
If Grandma were willing to come to Huyoniville and advocate for Evan, the Du family would respect her and lessen his punishment.
However, she refused to come. Often, it was his own grandmother who imposed the harshest punishments on Evan.
Even during their phone call, Evan found himself cursing her in his mind countless times.
Meanwhile, far away at FC Manor, the old lady sneezed repeatedly.
Startled, she quickly distanced herself from Avah, worried about catching a cold and passing it on. She rushed to find the fourth young lady of the Johnson family and asked Dr. Carden to check if she was coming down with something. To be cautious, she even took some medicine before daring to hold the little girl again.
After checking her pulse, Lilian reassured her, “Grandma York, you’re in excellent health. In fact, most middle-aged people—let alone younger ones—don’t have a physique as strong as yours.”
Still, the old lady grumbled, “I don’t know which of my ungrateful grandsons is cursing me in his heart. It must be Evan!”
After all, Evan had the worst luck when it came to pursuing his wife.
He was probably sulking about her favoritism right now.
Lilian was left speechless.
That was completely off-topic.
Meanwhile, Evan stepped out of his car, his gaze fixed on the floor of Abby’s office.
After waiting outside her company for so long, he could now pinpoint her office’s exact location at a glance. He had counted those floors so many times that it was ingrained in his memory.
The lights were on.
But Abby was nowhere to be seen.
The distance was too great.
He wasn’t a clairvoyant.
“I’m not cold, and I’m not going home,” Evan muttered. “Even if I can’t take you to the movies, I’ll wait right here until you’re off.”
he wouldn’t leave. Not while Spencer was inside the Du Group building.
Evan suspected that Abby had been tasked with negotiating with him, and the Du family was intentionally making things challenging.
As for Spencer, he hadn’t shown up during the day but had chosen to arrive in the evening, which forced Abby to stay late at work.
To be fair, Abby often worked long hours. Whether it was overtime or business dinners, as the vice president of the Du Group, she was perpetually occupied.
If Evan didn’t have so many brothers sharing the workload, he would have little time to pursue her, seek forgiveness, and attempt to win her back.
“I don’t know how late I’ll be working,” Abby replied. “You should go home. Don’t wait for me.”
She considered mentioning that she had dinner plans with Spencer after work but decided against it. Sharing that information would only make Evan more determined to stay.
“Abby, I haven’t seen you all day. If I don’t wait until you finish, I won’t be able to sleep tonight, and I won’t have an appetite tomorrow,” Evan said dramatically. “Actually, I barely ate anything earlier. Now, I’m starving, but I just can’t eat.”
His voice had a pitiful tone.
While it was true he hadn’t seen Abby all day, claiming he had lost his appetite was an exaggeration; he simply wanted to guilt her a bit.
Taking a deep breath, Abby tried to reason with him. “Seeing me won’t change anything. Don’t stay out in the cold. Go home. I have a business trip tomorrow and need to get things done tonight.”
“You’re going on a business trip? Where? I’ll go with you,” Evan said eagerly.
Abby quickly shifted the topic. “I have clients waiting. I can’t talk anymore. Just go home, or my sister will see you and give you a hard time.”
Evan hesitated before asking, “Then… can I wait for you in your office? At least…”
“There is heating available in that area.”
