Married at First Sight – Chapter 4279

The family knew how to give her space—they wouldn’t bother her unless it was something important.

Well, except for her two little brothers, who would probably sneak over whenever they could to score a free meal.

Mrs. Ormond started to say something but held back. Deep down, she couldn’t argue with her daughter’s plan—it was solid.

Elora broke the silence. “Mom, don’t stress about me and Tatum. I’ve got this under control. Bottom line: I’m not about to sell myself short.” Her voice was calm but firm, making it clear she was in charge of her own love life.

Parents could offer advice, sure, but the final decision? That was hers.

“Anyway, Mom, it’s late,” Elora added. “Go get some rest. I’m beat too—big meeting at the company tomorrow.”

Mrs. Ormond stood up. “Alright, get some sleep then.”

Tomorrow, she’d track down Tatum for a real conversation.

She needed to hear it straight from him—where did he stand? Was he truly serious about this?

Elora walked her mother to the door, said goodnight, and closed it behind her. With her mind finally settled on a plan, she felt lighter. She climbed into bed, and sleep hit her like a truck—out cold within minutes.
Mrs. Ormond, on the other hand, wasn’t so lucky. Back in her own room, she’d slipped out quietly earlier, not wanting to wake her husband. But now, lying in bed, her mind wouldn’t shut off. She tossed and turned, restless as ever—until she accidentally jostled Mr. Ormond awake.

“Honey, what’s going on with you?” he mumbled, rolling over to face her. His eyes cracked open, concern written across his sleepy face. “You’re flopping around like a fish on a grill. You feeling okay, or is something on your mind?”

He propped himself up slightly. “Last time you were this restless was the night Alonzo was born.”

Mrs. Ormond let out a long sigh. “I’m worried. Turn the light on—I can’t sleep. We need to talk.”

Mr. Ormond groaned softly. “What’s got you stressed now? You’ve gotta stop overthinking—it’s not good for you. It took years to get your health back on track.”

Still, he reached over and switched on the bedside lamp.

Mrs. Ormond sat up, hugging her knees. “I don’t want to overthink things and make myself sick, but this is about Elora’s future—her whole life. How am I supposed to just brush it off? Sure, she’s got it handled, but she’s our daughter, and she’s got big plans.”

Mr. Ormond blinked, processing that it was about their eldest. Then he reached for the lamp again. “Alright, lights out. Go to sleep. Elora’s sharp—she’s not about to get played by some random guy. If anything, my only concern is that she doesn’t even like any of the guys chasing her.”

He wasn’t worried. Plenty of men threw themselves at Elora, but she never gave them a second glance. None of them stood a chance.

Mr. Ormond knew the game—most of those guys weren’t after her heart. They were after the Ormond family’s fortune. He himself had been through hell health-wise, bouncing between doctors and relying on meds just to stay afloat. If not for their wealth granting him access to the best treatments, he would’ve been gone years ago.

Now, his only goal was staying alive until his son was ready to take over. He didn’t stress about the small stuff—just stuck to his routine: some martial arts, reading, calligraphy, clean eating. Whatever kept him going. And it was working—he felt stronger every day.

“She’s not interested in those clowns out there,” Mrs. Ormond murmured. “But she does have her eye on someone closer to home.”

Mr. Ormond stiffened. “…Wait, you’re saying there’s a guy under our roof? Tatum?”

It clicked instantly—Tatum was the only one who made sense.
