Chapter 46
“Ms. Sox, please don’t rush off.” Mr. Bill, still eager to assert his dominance, was hesitant to let Jasmine leave. “I appreciate it, Mr. Bill, but I believe we’re just not a good fit. Goodbye!”
Jasmine was straightforward about her feelings before pulling Serenity away.
They walked confidently until Serenity suddenly halted.
“What’s wrong, Seren?” Jasmine inquired. “It’s my husband.” “What do you mean?”
Before Jasmine could grasp the significance of Serenity’s statement, Zachary approached them. His intense gaze was locked onto Serenity, and a smirk played on his lips. Serenity could sense his sarcasm without him uttering a single word.
What could he possibly be sarcastic about? Serenity soon found her answer when she turned around and noticed Mr. Bill trailing behind them. She quickly clarified, “I’m just here accompanying my friend Jasmine on her date.”
Clearly, she was eager to find her next sugar daddy.
Zachary remained silent, his expression unreadable.
At last, Jasmine got a good look at her best friend’s husband! He was undeniably handsome!
Concerned that Zachary might misinterpret her admiration, Jasmine quickly attempted to ease the tension. Zachary coldly remarked, “Just don’t stay out too late.” Serenity then asked, “So, what brings you here?” “Nana asked me to pick up some desserts. She loves the treats from this place.”
It suddenly struck Zachary that Nana was up to something mischievous. She had sent him to retrieve desserts, fully aware that Serenity would be at the same location. Did Nana think he would feel threatened seeing Serenity with another man?
“Oh.”
The couple fell into a comfortable silence after that.
Eventually, Serenity broke the quiet, saying, “I need to head out. Come home after you’ve delivered the desserts to Nana. I’ll leave the door unlocked for you.”
With that, the married couple parted ways.
Serenity hopped onto her best friend’s bike, while Zachary went off to collect the desserts.
Zachary drove his national MPV away from Beans and Cream, heading straight to the Yorks’ estate. Upon arrival, he found Grandma May still awake, engrossed in her television show in the living room.
With desserts in hand, Zachary confidently approached her and placed the treats on the coffee table. Standing tall, he bluntly stated, “Nana, we agreed that you wouldn’t meddle in my married life.”
“Oh, but I didn’t,” she replied, feigning innocence.
Zachary gestured towards the desserts. “You specifically instructed me to pick these up from Beans and Cream so that I would see Serenity having coffee with another man. Nana, I don’t know what jealousy is, nor will I ever feel it.”
He then turned on his heel and headed for the door.
“Zachary, it’s late. Aren’t you going to stay the night?” Grandma May called after him.
“My wife left the door unlocked for me,” he responded nonchalantly. As he walked away, the old lady muttered under her breath, “No idea what jealousy is? Not going to experience it? Well, I wouldn’t bet on that.”
