Chapter 91
**Chapter 91**
Ring, ring, ring…
Serenity’s phone buzzed with an incoming call. Upon glancing at the screen, she recognized her sister’s name and answered immediately.
“Seren, did you catch the news on Twitter? This is outrageous!” Liberty exclaimed, clearly agitated.
Having been just fifteen when their parents tragically passed away in an accident, Liberty retained vivid memories of the tumultuous aftermath. Over the years, she meticulously documented every detail of the callous actions of their grandparents and uncles in a diary, which she still kept close. It had never crossed Liberty’s mind that these relatives might flip the narrative and blame the sisters instead.
“They didn’t suddenly turn into villains overnight. They’ve always been this way,” Serenity reminded her.
“I’m going to jump online right now and set the record straight,” Liberty declared, ready to defend their honor. But Serenity quickly interjected, “Hold on a second. There’s no rush to defend ourselves. Let the story circulate for a bit before we respond. Then we can reveal their true colors to everyone.”
“Since they’ve plastered our faces and numbers online, we should gather evidence to confront them directly,” Serenity continued.
“What’s your plan, Seren? I’m all in. Speaking of which, I used to keep a diary back then, and I still have it. I remember every single thing they did to us. Maybe we should share the diary online?” Liberty suggested, surprising Serenity.
“Wow, I didn’t realize you kept a diary. Send it to me, Liberty. I’ll organize the proof we need to fight back. I plan to craft a detailed tweet alongside the evidence that will make them regret putting us in this position,” Serenity replied, steeling herself. Did their relatives truly believe that cyberbullying would scare her into submission?
“Sounds good,” Liberty agreed.
“Just promise me you won’t get involved, Liberty. I’ll take care of this. You have Sonny to think about. These online trolls can be merciless, and I don’t want them targeting you or your son. It might be best for you to stay off the internet for a few days. Consider turning off your phone or even changing your number. We can still keep in touch.”
“with your new contact number.”
Liberty hesitated. “This affects both of us. How can I let you handle it alone?”
“I know you’re not afraid, but you have a son to think about. He’s still so young. Who knows what these people might do to your family?”
The threat of cyberbullying could escalate, potentially putting her loved ones at risk. Serenity was particularly worried about her young nephew getting dragged into this mess.
“Don’t worry, Liberty. I’ll take care of it. Just remove your SIM card and contact me once you have a new number.”
“Okay,” Liberty replied. “I’ll head to your shop right now.”
Even though Liberty agreed to get a new SIM card, she was determined not to step away from the situation.
After hanging up with her sister, Liberty received a call from her husband, Hank. He shouted into the phone, “Is that article online something your relatives tweeted? I told you to cut ties with them! I don’t care what happens to you, but don’t involve me and Sonny in this.”
Now that Hank had secured a managerial position, his income had significantly increased.
He was worried that those opportunists would try to take advantage of him if they discovered his newfound financial stability.
