She was very fond of Jun Yan. While living at Fengchen Villa, she would take Jun Yan out to play every day.

She was even better at entertaining children than Old Lady Jun, and the little ones in the Jun family loved to follow her around.

Sometimes Old Lady Jun spoke about her great-grandchildren in a jealous tone—as if they were actually the old lady’s.

“Oh, Yanyan, you can talk now, and you still remember Grandma Zhan!”

The old lady joyfully kissed Jun Yan on her cheek. Jun Yan immediately wrapped her arms around the old lady’s neck and kissed her wrinkled face in return.

The little girl’s soft kiss melted the old lady’s heart.

She held Jun Yan and sat down next to Mu Qing. With one hand free, she reached out and gently patted Ye Yao’s head, smiling as she said, “Ye Yao, aren’t you going to compete with your sister for Grandma’s attention?”

“Grandma Zhan.”

Ye Yao could only call out her name—he wasn’t able to say much else yet.

He stretched out his hands, wanting the old lady to hold him too.

Mu Qing said, “Grandma Zhan is holding your sister right now.”

But the old lady reached out and took him as well, beaming. “Qingqing, it’s fine, it’s fine. I can still manage two kids—they’re not heavy. I can hold them, no problem.”

Zhan Yin said helplessly to Ye Junbo, “My grandma’s always like this. Once she sees children, she can’t look away. I don’t even know whose grandma she is anymore.”

Even though he, her eldest grandson, was right there, his grandmother hadn’t glanced at him once since returning.

Ye Junbo chuckled and replied, “You’ll get used to it. I already have.”

Before he became a father, he, the eldest grandson, held the top spot in his grandmother’s heart.

After his kids were born, not only did his status fall in his grandmother’s heart, but even his parents began putting the children first.

It was the same when he visited his in-laws. When he and Mu Qing brought the kids along, they were welcomed with smiles—but the in-laws only had eyes for the children.

If he and Mu Qing visited without the kids, the treatment was completely different.

Her mother was still kind to him as a son-in-law, but when speaking to Mu Qing, she would bluntly say, “If you didn’t bring the kids, why bother coming at all?”
She was a bit more polite to her son-in-law, but very direct with Mu Qing. Her mother-in-law often said, “If you’re not bringing the children, what’s the point of coming back?”

It was the same with her biological in-laws. In short, after having children, parents had to take a back seat in the hearts of the older generation.

Tang Junye and her two sisters-in-law also sat around the mother-in-law and Mu Qing, playing with the two children.

“Aunt Tang, I want to go upstairs to see Haitong. I’ll leave the kids with you for a while.”

Mu Qing left the two children in their care and followed Zhan Yin upstairs to visit Haitong.

Zhan Yin knocked on the door twice and said, “Wife, are you asleep? Mu Qing is here to see you.”

Haitong had already been informed in advance—Mu Qing had messaged her before leaving the house.

“I’m not asleep,” Haitong replied.

When she first heard the knock, she thought it was the old lady again. She quickly slid her phone under the pillow and lay back down.

But upon hearing her husband’s voice, she sat up, retrieved her phone, and placed it on the bedside table.

She was about to get up and open the door, but Zhan Yin had already come in.

Since Mu Qing and Haitong were close friends and both women, Zhan Yin led her straight into the bedroom.

“Tongtong.”

Mu Qing walked over with a smile. Haitong tried to get out of bed, but Mu Qing stopped her.

“Just lie down and rest. I’m not a stranger—you don’t need to be so formal.”

Mu Qing sat gently on the edge of the bed.

Zhan Yin poured her a cup of warm water and then said to Haitong, “Wife, I’ll leave you two to chat. Junbo’s still downstairs.”
