Married at First Sight Chapter 4449
“Boss Zhan’s office isn’t ready yet, is it?”
After glancing around, Huang Li pulled a chair closer and sat down.
Zhan Yiyang replied, “It’s pretty much done. I’ll add more things if needed later.”
“Miss Huang, would you like some water or tea?”
“Just a glass of warm water, please. I rarely drink tea—I usually prefer coffee.”

Zhan Yiyang went to pour her a glass of warm water.
“I haven’t set up the coffee yet, so I can’t offer you any. Please have some water for now, Miss Huang.”
He placed the cup in front of her, returned to his seat, looked at her, and asked, “Miss Huang, have we met before? I wonder what brings you here today?”
Huang Li smiled gracefully, lifted a hand to brush through her waist-length hair, and said, “We’ve met a few times. Perhaps Mr. Zhan doesn’t remember, but I remember him quite clearly.”
“Boss Zhan is such an outstanding and handsome man—it’s hard to forget once you’ve met him.”
Huang Li picked up the warm water, took a few sips, set the cup down, and pushed the gifts she had brought toward Zhan Yiyang.
Smiling at him, she said, “I’m sorry for the sudden visit. I brought some small gifts for Mr. Zhan. I hope you won’t mind and will kindly accept them.”
Zhan Yiyang merely glanced at the gifts before pushing them back toward Huang Li with an apologetic tone. “Thank you for your kindness, Miss Huang, but I can’t accept them.”
“I don’t accept gifts from young women outside my family—unless they’re from my sweetheart, Du Yumeng. Only then would I accept them.”
Upon hearing Zhan Yiyang mention Du Yumeng and refer to her as his sweetheart, the smile on Huang Li’s face stiffened slightly, though she maintained it. She responded with a faint smile, “Everyone in Haicheng knows that President Zhan is pursuing Du Yumeng.”
“But didn’t you once say you didn’t truly love her after chasing her before? Why are you going back to her this year?”
What does Du Yumeng have that she doesn’t?
Huang Li refused to admit that Du Yumeng was superior to her in any way.
Simply put, she couldn’t stand Du Yumeng.
She wanted to take everything Du Yumeng had. Even if she couldn’t have it, she’d still try to take it—just to spite her. Even helping others defeat Du Yumeng brought her satisfaction.
The moment Zhan Yiyang appeared in her life, she felt a stir in her heart.
Even though she had a boyfriend, he wasn’t a good match for the Huang family. He could never be considered a true partner in the social sense.
In contrast, Zhan Yiyang’s background far surpassed her boyfriend’s.
Yet Zhan Yiyang was pursuing her nemesis, Du Yumeng. She couldn’t understand why he went back to her after already giving up once.
Now, she wanted to steal Zhan Yiyang away.
Whether she succeeded or not didn’t matter—she would try.
If she failed, she would end up marrying her current boyfriend.
And that would mean losing to Du Yumeng again, even in marriage.
Huang Li couldn’t accept that.
