Married at First Sight Chapter 4483
“Go ahead and run. I can’t pressure you, but your elder brother can. If he comes in person one day, he won’t be as gentle as I am.”
“If your eldest brother can’t convince you, then Grandma will fly over herself—and you’ll see what real misery looks like.”
Zhan Wei sighed helplessly. “Sister-in-law, it’s not that I don’t want to get married. It’s just that I haven’t met someone who truly satisfies me. Our family has very high standards when it comes to choosing a daughter-in-law.”

“Sister-in-law, please call my brother and let him know I’m okay so he won’t worry. I’m taking the two kids out to play.”
With that, Zhan Wei quickly took the children and left.
Serenity let out a sigh.
Watching Old Seven walk out with the kids, she turned her gaze back inside, pulled out her phone, and made a call—not to Zachary, but to the old lady first.
It took the elderly woman a while to answer.
Her hearing wasn’t what it used to be.
She hadn’t heard the phone ring at all. Only after someone nearby pointed it out did she realize her phone was ringing.
She quickly put on her reading glasses and hearing aid before answering Serenity’s call.
“Grandma,”
Serenity greeted her sweetly. The old lady smiled through the phone and asked, “Have you arrived in Yangcheng?”
“Grandma, we arrived a while ago. We met up with Old Seven first. He took us to try some local snacks, then brought us back to his place. I finally have a moment to give you a call.”
“What are you up to, Grandma?”
Serenity heard someone speaking nearby and asked about it.
“I wasn’t doing much, just invited a few elderly friends over to chat and take a walk,” the old lady replied.
Most of the seniors who used to keep the old lady company had already passed away. One or two were still around, but their health was much worse than hers.
Although the old lady was older than all of them, they came from ordinary families, endured hardships in their youth, and developed various ailments. In old age, their health declined further, and they were often tormented by illness.
Because of their poor health, even when the old lady felt bored, she couldn’t always ask them to visit. Occasionally, she’d have the housekeeper drive her down the mountain to visit the friends she had chatted with for over ten or twenty years.
For employees working for the Zhan family, if they brought their elderly parents with them, the family would arrange housing so that the whole family could live together.
When those elders fell ill and needed treatment, the Zhan family would provide a medical team to care for them and offer free health checkups.
The goal was to ensure they lived well, so when the old lady felt lonely and went down the mountain, someone would be there to talk with her.
Although the old lady had many children and grandchildren, and her sons could keep her company, she always felt they couldn’t really chat with her. She still preferred to talk with women her own age.
People of the same generation had endless things to talk about.
Even if a topic came up repeatedly, they could discuss it for days without getting tired of it.
“If Grandma wants to walk around the villa, she must be accompanied by the maids,” Serenity reminded her.
The elderly friends were not as strong as Grandma, and Serenity felt uneasy if she went out without help.
“I know. They’re all here with me,” the old lady replied. “Some of the little ones are also nearby, playing not far from us. Before you gave me great-grandchildren, I longed to hold them. Now that I have seven or eight running around at once, the noise gives me a headache.”
