Serenity smiled and said, “I think so too, Grandma. If it’s okay with you, I’ll secretly take a video of the two of them interacting and show it to you.”

“Since I’m here in Yangcheng, I’ll keep a close eye on Miss Lan. I feel like Old Seven sees her as his sworn enemy, yet still says she has a good character—so she must be a good person.”

“Great, take more videos of them together and show them to me. If they’re arguing, even better—that would be more fun to watch.”

The old lady loved watching bickering couples.

“Have you called A Yin yet?”

“Not yet. I called you first, Grandma. I’ll call him next. He’s at work and probably busy.”

The old lady chuckled and said, “You’d better call him quickly or he’ll get upset again. That guy used to be so generous, but ever since becoming a husband and father, he’s gotten stingy.”

Jealous and always competing with the kids for attention.

Even though she was his most beloved granddaughter-in-law, the old lady couldn’t compare to Zachary’s place in Serenity’s heart. Whenever Serenity gave more attention to the children, Zachary would get jealous and speak in a tone so sour it could be sensed from miles away.

After hanging up, the old lady urged Serenity to call Zachary right away.

She knew her grandson well—after all, she’d raised him.

Zachary was indeed sulking, upset that his wife had been in Yangcheng for so long. In reality, Serenity had just arrived that day, but she’d only sent him a message upon landing to say they arrived safely.

She hadn’t called since. To him, it felt like she had left him behind to travel with their two children—like she loved them more than she loved him.

They say once a woman becomes a mother, her attention shifts to the children, and it’s easy to neglect the husband.

Zachary had worked hard to keep Serenity’s attention from focusing solely on the child, and he thought he’d done well. But the moment she left, he still felt like she loved the kids more.

Ah, maybe he should have resisted the pressure and waited a couple of years before having children—lived in their little world a bit longer.
Thinking back to the psychological pressure Serenity had faced over not getting pregnant, Zachary took back his earlier words.

Compared to the joy of a world shared by just two people, he would rather see his wife happy than burdened by the pain and stress of infertility.

At that moment, Zachary was in a conference room attending a meeting, but his mind was elsewhere.

Seated on either side of him were Zhan Yichen and Su Nan. Both men noticed his distraction and exchanged knowing glances.

Even without asking, it was obvious—Zachary’s emotional anchor had gone away on a trip, and he was clearly worried.

The president’s wife still hadn’t called.

Su Nan silently complained—why didn’t Zachary take the initiative to call her?

This man could be so stubborn it left people speechless. He had every opportunity to reach out first but insisted on waiting.

The president’s wife was off traveling. Most likely, she had already taken the children out for some fun and hadn’t even thought about calling her husband yet.

“Brother.”

Zhan Yichen called out to Zachary in a low voice.

After calling him two or three times, Zachary finally snapped out of his thoughts and turned to look at him. His gaze was sharp as a blade of ice, making Zhan Yichen nearly regret calling him “brother.”

Zhan Yichen had noticed his older brother spacing out. After a subordinate presented a project plan, Zachary didn’t respond at all, leaving the presenter so nervous he broke into a cold sweat.

Zachary quickly realized why his brother had called him. He signaled the person who had been speaking to return to his seat. Though distracted, he had already reviewed the project, had a clear impression of it, and approved.

He nodded and said, “Very good.”

The man quietly wiped away the cold sweat from his brow.
